@Nekeet: woops, forgot to update the checksums for the new release; fixed

Hello, Ferdi265.

Please update the PKGBUILD source file checksum for 20210522-1 release. New one is 62080ce53df3c38633c15804b99a5dbde533beac0fef83ef17a609bba6348195.

Some news! I added the new blue variants to the -git package. With it comes a bunch of new infrastructure, and I threw the existing codebase entirely out the window, opting instead to start from scratch with plain Numix. colors are now configured in .colors files, so new contributions are easy :)

Sure thing. Yup, themes can depend on other themes in a sense (I can symlink parts that are the same). I'll add NumixSolarizedStandard and -DarkStandard to the list of themes when I have time :) Maybe it'll take a bit longer, because I might have to add some "multi-theme infrastructure" (i.e. Scripts that swap colors on the fly, allowing me to just have 2 folders, numix-src and themes, which are just lists of color swaps, making it possible to have any number of colorswapped themes. (praise GNU grep for this :D)

That would be perfect, thanks. My initial thought was to just have two more themes with the standard colors, so we would all be satisfied (themes can "depend" on other themes, right?), but that works just as well. Good luck with civilian service (and knowing how git works :) ).

> Less green. Ahh, yes. That's the most obvious change. I switched over from blue as the accent color; it just looks "better" in my opinion, but that is just taste. If you would like I can make the accent color configurable, defaulting to blue, like the standard Solarized. Would that be acceptable? > I appreciate the hard work Thanks. Mostly it's just three things: - _global.scss .. colors for the gtk3.0 and gtk3.20 - gtkrc .. colors and style for gtk2.0 - assets .. SVG icons for gtk3.0 and gtk3.20 It's good they use SVGs so you can still edit them with VIM, regular text files. Anything more would be tedious. The rest is keeping up with upstream commits and knowing how git merge works. So.. Mostly a little time every now and then, but I have a lot of void time in my life at the moment (limbo between school and university, "Zivildienst" (alternative civilian service) starts in a week and a half)

I'm not so sure, because the "Solarized Dark" themes built into both my IDE and my terminal emulator are both entirely consistent with the old version of this theme. Namely, less green. ( If there are minor differences between the hex values in the other colors, I haven't noticed them; they are not what I'm referring to. ) I appreciate the hard work. I know nothing at all about how GTK themes work, other than that they break with every new GTK release. :)

Sure thing. Can you tell me what you mean by "standard solarized colors"? One thing that I think you could mean is that in some cases I used colors that are similar, but not exactly the hex values people usually see in Solarized (lighter/darker than the usual shade). I'm still trying things out and try to find workings shades that don't look ugly in applications. I'm limited here in some ways because I only fill in the color variables in Numix's _global.scss, so sometimes I have to make compromises. And who knows, I might have made a typo I haven't noticed yet. The theme is not 100% final, so expect to see some tweaks. If you could provide some examples of differences between my theme and "standard" Solarized, please do so. The reason I didn't continue the old theme is that I don't really understand GTK Theme building, I just know enough about CSS and standard Computer Knowledge to tweak a theme. The original Numix Solarized theme was very similar to Numix, but didn't use the actual Numix code base. This one is a direct fork off of Numix. All architectural changes to the Numix theme will eventually apply to this one, I just maintain the colors. If you happen to use one of the DEs XFCE or Unity, or the Openbox or Metacity WM, you might have stumbled upon the default Numix WM Theming (WM borders with the default Numix reddish grey colors) that is still in this theme (in addition to the GTK theme) because I didn't have the time to change it yet. I gladly accept suggestions, bug reports and pull requests on the GitHub to this theme. I know this is a little imperfect, but on Arch I expect most people did the 3.20 jump, and at least I like a working theme with a little out of tune colors more than a completely broken one.

Thanks for the fix, Ferdi. Is there any chance we can also have themes with the standard solarized colors? At the risk of sounding rude or ungrateful, I'll offer my thoughts: - The people using the old themes expect a continuation of those themes, not a different theme with some similarities. - "solarized" is a very popular, generally agreed-upon color scheme and it's misleading to use it in the title but not actually follow the pseudo-standard. - rarara i hate change

Fix released. The new PKGBUILD with the new dark theme was a) not pushed to the AUR because I forgot to git push (*sigh*) b) broken, because makepkg just used the old .tar.gz archive on updates, not changing anything Now it a) is on the AUR b) works on updates because the .tar.gz archive has the version in the name (yay) c) does md5sum checking The dark theme should now be there and be called NumixSolarizedDark. The theme is a little different since I recreated it from scratch from the official Numix sources, just changed the colors. If stuff looks ugly or doesn't work, contact me, I'll try to fix it.
