i get the same thing. it seems to work with the current version of cairo, 1.10.0.

I installed this recently and I'm having a problem figuring out how to use it.

scheme@(guile-user)> (use-modules (cairo))
While compiling expression:
In procedure dynamic-link: file: "/usr/lib/libguile-cairo", message: "file not found"
