I have trouble reproducing the error; in a clean chroot the package builds fine. Are you sure you don't have any possible leftover python packages installed in the user directory? The latest python-installer from [extra] is 0.7.0-8, so
python -m pip show installer
should return 0.7.0.hrehfeld commented on 2024-11-06 13:44 (UTC) (edited on 2024-11-06 13:44 (UTC) by hrehfeld)
Thanks for maintaining!

Install fails due to ImportError "import setuptools_scm", due to an upstream change: https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/hg-git/-/commit/6c7ac1eb4fd55832fe93bf0569d940554e649d19
Adding python-setuptools-scm as a build dependency fixes this issue.

Bitbucket no longer supports mercurial repositories, could you please update this package?

I think it should be updated because it does not work at the moment:
Rememver: Mercurial has no API compatibility between release, so basically each 6 months this package has to be updated once a new Mercurial version is released.
