@matthewq337 I believe the picom package maintainer is in control of designating picom as "Provides: compton". As for hotdog, I will keep the dependency as only "compton", following the hotdog README.

the optional deps should include stock picom in the compton list

@matthewq337 I'm not sure what you mean by this. The PKGBUILD currently has an optional dependency on compton, not a hard dependency on picom.

shouldn't include picom from extra https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/picom/

@matthewq337 Can you describe how the build fails? The PKGBUILD does not do much besides unpack a prebuilt .deb.
