This was already reported https://github.com/jtara1/imgur_downloader/issues/26 and https://github.com/jtara1/imgur_downloader/issues/21

Interesting and usefull tool. I'm testing it with very recent urls posted on the Arch Forum.

Unfortunately the last commits to the github repo were in 2019. The last tagged release was also in 2019, 0.2.2, https://github.com/jtara1/imgur_downloader/tags

According to, https://github.com/jtara1/imgur_downloader, this should be possible:

jtara1 Fork - Features

  • Here's some examples of the types of links that are now supported:

      □ http://imgur.com/FVRUGe2
      □ http://imgur.com/FVRUGe2.jpg
      □ http://imgur.com/gallery/LHCvGPA
      □ http://imgur.com/r/awwnime/W7N6A
      □ http://i.imgur.com/j9W9tSi.jpg
      □ http://imgur.com/a/SVq41
      □ http://i.imgur.com/A61SaA1.gifv

But I'm not able to download from urls of type, https://imgur.com/XXXXXX. I have to explicitly type the extension ".jpg" , https://imgur.com/XXXXXX.jpg

Example with recent links posted on the Arch Forum:

$ imgur_downloader https://imgur.com/sRNNOVI

Fails with :

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/imgur_downloader", line 33, in <module>
    sys.exit(load_entry_point('imgur-downloader-0.2.2==0.2.2', 'console_scripts', 'imgur_downloader')())

    downloader = ImgurDownloader(url)
  File "/usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/imgur_downloader/imgurdownloader.py", line 157, in __init__
    self.json_imageIDs = list(self._init_image_ids_with_json(html=html))
  File "/usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/imgur_downloader/imgurdownloader.py", line 189, in _init_image_ids_with_json
    raise Exception("Failed to find regex match in html")
Exception: Failed to find regex match in html

But

$ imgur_downloader https://imgur.com/sRNNOVI.jpg

Works. Not sure, if this is a problem with, this PKGBUILD, or with the upstream github repo. I'm more inclined to think its the upstream repo.

Anyone also experiencing this or other problems, before I open an issue on Github ?

Missing dependency python-pip (and optionally python-wheel).

python-click should be marked as a dependency

@Batou - I've made a new package based on the jtara1 fork:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/imgur-downloader-git/

This script seems to have been abandoned by its author. It just doesn't work well anymore and is extremely buggy (for example, in an album, it downloads every image several times). A much better forked branch would be this one... since it has all the patches applied: https://github.com/jtara1/imgur_downloader
