Did anyone get this to compile?

ConnorBehan commented on 2015-10-30 17:57

Neither of those xulrunner versions is correct. You need to use 25.x to compile instantbird 1.5. The instantbird team is being slow to release upstream but as far as the AUR is concerned, this package is up to date.

isfeldt34 commented on 2015-10-17 04:12

This package doesn't appear to be updated, at least not the xulrunner, and autoconf packages. Autoconf is 2.69-2 and I was able to find 2.13 2.13-3 in the extra repos, Xulrunner lists 40.0.3-1 and xulrunner-192 1.9.2.28-4 (1), tried removing the xulrunner dependency and / replacing it with the current version, still refused to build, then I removed it completely and the package built mostly, but aborted halfway threw with several errors.

Thank you ConnorBehan. :)

ConnorBehan commented on 2014-07-10 02:00

ARM has it: ftp://seblu.net/archlinux/arm/packages/x/xulrunner/

DoubleT commented on 2014-07-10 01:32

There is no xulrunner-25.0 package in community or anywhere. Please give me a link.

ConnorBehan commented on 2014-07-02 09:14

The xulrunner-25.0 package from [community] is what's needed.

DoubleT commented on 2014-07-02 05:37

same problem with @leafonsword. Which xulrunner package we have to install?

cirrus commented on 2014-03-11 14:03

Thanks for teh explanation.

ConnorBehan commented on 2014-03-11 00:55

Gee, maybe there's a reason I put xulrunner<26.0. Instantbird is not out of date. It's just that the upstream developers haven't ported it to the newest xulrunner version yet.

cirrus commented on 2014-03-11 00:08

Connor i edied line 10 in pkgbuild to depends=('xulrunner<27*.0') ( updated i686 boxxen) instantbird fails to build, here is output http://paste.debian.net/87022/ sorry i dont have skills to submit patches.
Thanks for this.

foolishgrunt commented on 2014-02-10 02:19

Gotcha, thanks. I saw the gstreamer message, but missed the part where it said they were needed to build the backend. Packages installed, Instantbird built. Thanks!

ConnorBehan commented on 2014-02-09 20:15

It's asking you to install more gstreamer0.10 packages. You can either do that or just take --enable-gstreamer out of the mozconfig. I put it there thinking that the mozilla gstreamer support would eventually be used by instantbird for voice/video chat, but that is still a long way from happening.

foolishgrunt commented on 2014-02-09 06:37

Sure. Here's the entire output after running 'makepkg -s':
http://pastebin.com/mQhSZaRF

ConnorBehan commented on 2014-02-08 18:30

Could you paste more of the output?

foolishgrunt commented on 2014-02-08 04:49

Anybody else getting a configure error? (Before anybody asks, my xulrunner version is 25.)

ConnorBehan commented on 2013-08-23 15:46

You can try with 22.0 but usually when there is a xulrunner update, there is nothing we can do but wait for a new instantbird release.

mindcruft commented on 2013-08-23 13:53

I seem to be having an issue installing

==> Missing dependencies:

sonny commented on 2013-07-16 15:38

Can you add fakeroot and binutils to build dependencies?

ConnorBehan commented on 2013-06-04 20:47

So a mozilla update this time didn't break instantbird. That's a first!

EgorMatirov commented on 2013-06-02 18:41

Hi ConnorBehan, i think an update is needed.
==>Installing missing dependencies...
error: target not found: xulrunner<21.0

Current version of xulrunner is 21.0. Instantbird work with it, so I think you need to replace "xulrunner<21.0" to "xulrunner<22.0"(or other version) in PKGBUILD.

ConnorBehan commented on 2013-04-20 10:52

The default xulrunner version could be 500. If the developers of instantbird haven't caught up, there is nothing to update.

Segaja commented on 2013-04-19 12:02

I flagged this package out of date because default xulrunner version is 20 or higher by now and so this is not installable.

Please update.

zertyz commented on 2013-01-03 12:45

Hi ConnorBehan, think an update is needed:

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-11-22 22:23

Damn! It took me so long that mozilla 17 already came out :S.

anonymous_user commented on 2012-11-21 05:26

1.3 is out now. I wonder if it will work with newer xulrunner.

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-09-20 21:50

There should be a way to make it use the libpurple implementation of XMPP. But I don't think a proper xulrunner 15 patch exists. It's hard for people to keep up with mozilla's pace.

pztrn commented on 2012-09-20 20:41

Any patches for xulrunner 15? Instantbird crashes on XMPP connecting if compiled with fresh xulrunner...

Anonymous comment on 2012-08-10 17:40

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-08-10 17:13

Damn, you're right... it does try to create a symlink in /usr/lib/xulrunner-devel-14.0.1/sdk/bin/. I didn't notice because I was sloppy and built this as root when I was testing it. I'll try to think of a better way.

When I run that command in terminal as my user, it displays nothing:
~ >>> ls /usr/lib | grep -m1 xulrunner-devel | sed -e 's/.*-//'

Guess that's my problem then?

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-02-07 19:35

The command `ls /usr/lib | grep -m1 xulrunner-devel | sed -e 's/.*-//'` is supposed to figure out what number to put after xulrunner-devel-. Like it will turn it into xulrunner-devel-7.0 or something. Is your /usr/lib unreadable by the user you're building as?

The other thing is this problem machine specific or does anybody else have this build error?

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-01-15 05:35

Xulrunner needs to be a 7.x for the build to work. Pretty much every build problem is because there has been a change in the major version number since the instantbird source came out.

tastyminerals commented on 2012-01-15 03:37

ConnorBehan commented on 2012-01-14 20:30

Hmm, do you have .h and .xpt files in obj-instantbird/purple/purplexpcom/public/_xpidlgen? And are you using xulrunner 7? I can only find imICommandsService.h referenced in cpp files. The Makefiles all reference imICommandsService.idl.

to solve this issue you must recompile or switch to internal xul from instantbird and stop using shared xul

Jiehong commented on 2011-07-05 04:04

The icon isn't set for instantbird in the system. (For instance, with xfce, if we got a launcher for Instantbird then we can't select an icon since if there's one it's not in a standard directory…)

By the way, after installation there's no menu entry for instant bird which is a bit annoying because we need to launch it from a command line…

You can download language packs at addons.instantbird.org. If you look for the two "locale" related sed lines, you can try taking them out of the PKGBUILD. But from what I can tell, they refer to directories that don't exist.

ConnorBehan commented on 2011-07-01 14:11

Of course... but instantbird depends on xulrunner which depends on gtk2 which depends on cairo so there's no need to add it.

cairo is also an dependency:

i don't get it why you prefer the ugly way of creating mozconfig instead having a file and in PKGBUILD just copied in the right directly.

imo that's kiss

You're right, they changed the name from autoconf-compat to autoconf2.13

However it seems to build fine here, with these installed:

[fackamato@fackamato-pc ~]$ pacman -Qs autoconf
local/autoconf 2.65-2 (base-devel)
A GNU tool for automatically configuring source code
local/autoconf2.13 2.13-1
A GNU tool for automatically configuring source code (Legacy 2.1x version)
