I had to edit pkg-config lines to ask for 'lua51' instead of lua5.1, but otherwise your patches worked, thanks.

Sorry for the big delay, I never got a notification about the comment here.

Its because exactly lua51 is required. The following PKGBUILD and archlinux.patch file work:

/me sighs, "Works in my directory I use before uploading, doesn't work when I download the snapshot. What the hell?"

This won't build at all!

I have fixed the build issue Herodotus mentioned.

I tried to build this package with makepkg -Ss. It said "Missing package() function".

My solution was to install "notion" instead, which has a package in the community repository. Changed ~/.ion3 to ~/.notion, cfg_ion.lua to cfg_notion.lua, now everything pretty much works.

Need edit line:
source=(${pkgver}.tar.gz ion3.desktop)

andreas_baumann commented on 2010-11-15 07:38

An adapted PKGBUILD is on

andreas_baumann commented on 2010-11-06 11:56

There is an official version on, it compiles and runs without any problems.

Does not work anymore
I found an original version of the tarball somewhere on ubuntu (...)
I didn't found ion3.desktop

It seems tuomo is abandonning ion (well, that's what the ML seems to say)
M Rawash (with other ML folks) is trying to provide a fork, called notion.

whatever, I'll keep the tarball here: http sd-12900[dot]dedibox[heretoo]fr/archlinux/ (ion-3-${pkgver}.tar.gz)
it's so much fine, I could keep using this version my whole life..
