Good to hear. Hopefully, Internauta can take care of this going forward, if not, I also have this Epson V600 scanner, and I'm running Manjaro KDE, so if you need me to test something, just let me know, will be glad to help anyway I can.

I don't have that scanner and don't know if I ever have. All I need is someone who can update the package that can test the updates with the scanner.

Hello, I have updated locally the hash sums with the ones from the official source URL:

and it works. I tried to push the change, but I can't without push permission, I guess (this is my first time).

When you built the package you were getting "locale" errors from bsdtar. I don't know how this affects building the package but have you resolved these errors?

Did you receive any errors when you installed the package after it was built?

I have the same version of Vuescan installed as you. Any idea why there appears to be a refusal to properly update this package in AUR? Seems illogical.

It should be noted that in addition to the printer driver being discussed here, Epson has made available over the last few days a Linux (rpm and deb) package that after installed delivers a scanner interface providing some of the functionality available in windows. All of this installs so easily in Debian, and it is completely denied to Arch users. Absurd.

I have the same scanner as you and am running VueScan Pro 9.7.35 - I noticed that VueScan installation has changed over the years. Anyway, I went thru the procedure again and here is what I did:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/iscan-plugin-gt-x820.git makepkg md5sum iscan-gt-x820-bundle-2.30.4.x64.rpm.tar.gz sha256sum https://aur.archlinux.org/iscan-plugin-gt-x820.git

... update PKGBUILD with above 2 values

At this point my output differs from yours in that I do not get any of the "bsdtar: Failed to set default locale" messages - and you show 4 of them.

Is your scanner visible thru lsusb? My system shows:

After having updated the checksums in the PKGBUILD file to reflect the correct ones, and running it, I get what's shown below, however, the Epson V600 scanner continues to be invisible to Manjaro, neither Epson's own software (Image Scan! for Linux) nor Vuescan ancknowledge a scanner is attached to the PC. So, no solution thus far for Epson V600 in Manjaro KDE. The complete lack of support by the community is amazing.

Thanks for the comment. I in fact did exactly as you suggest, and unfortunately the install process was not successful, as my Manjaro KDE PC continued to be unable to access the scanner. In addition, I reached out the maintainer, and posted in various forums, but received zero responses, so, after two years with Manjaro, had no choice but to move on, to Debian, where the driver installed immediately. If you want to build this package you need to update the PKGBUILD file. There are 2 hash sums in the file md5sums and sha256sums. Only 1 is necessary. If you comment out the "sha256sums=" line, run md5sum against iscan-gt-x820-bundle-2.30.4.x64.rpm.tar.gz, update the "md5sums=" line with the value displayed and finally re-run makepkg you should be OK. Note that I am not a maintainer of any package and I'm sure that a version number should be updated but I just wanted to be able to update my package. Since Epson released new software and the PKGBUILD file is from 2019, the hash sums undoubtedly changed from what was in the PKGBUILD file.
