thanks! 1.1.1-13 works for me

alexdw commented on 2015-11-09 07:15

@crs, @vorbote: Just uploaded a version that should hopefully fix both issues now, by correcting the sub-archive used in the new bundle download file.

I have tested on my setup and I can access my Epson network scanner successfully.

alexdw commented on 2015-11-09 06:52

@crs: Thanks for the information. I'm seeing a similar issue on my setup.

It looks like the download package changed more than I had initially thought - I will have a look at fixing this (and resolving the conflict with iscan-data) later today.

crs commented on 2015-11-09 06:39

after upgrading this package, running iscan produces a pop-up error: "Could not send command to scanner. Check the scanner's status." Any suggestions would be welcome! I have "epkowa" in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and "net 192.168.10.7" in /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf

alexdw commented on 2015-11-08 23:12

On quick glance at the file list of iscan-data, it looks almost (but not quite) identical to the files provided by iscan-plugin-network.
For now I've added iscan-data to conflicts for this package.

alexdw commented on 2015-11-08 23:02

@vorbote: Thanks for the information.

When I get some time this week I'll have a look at iscan-data to see where it overlaps with iscan-plugin-network. I didn't create the initial package, and until this last update have only really been updating the source file links as they have become outdated. It's possible iscan-data provides most of what's in iscan-plugin-network already.

vorbote commented on 2015-11-08 22:55

Hi, your updated package conflicts with iscan-data in community. Please fix this filing bugs in flyspray (you should depend on community/iscan-data and reporting an outdated package in community TBH).

alexdw commented on 2015-11-08 21:15

OK, I've updated the package to use the new format.
It should hopefully work the same as before now.

alexdw commented on 2015-11-08 00:43

I just had a look at the new archive:
https://download2.ebz.epson.net/iscan/general/deb/x64/iscan-bundle-1.0.0.x64.deb.tar.gz
It seems to be updated with an "install.sh" but also has the old style "iscan-network-nt.deb" as a file ("iscan-data_1.36.0-1_all.deb") in the archive in the "data" directory.
For now I'll look to update the PKGBUILD to use this so it works in the same way as previously, though maybe going forward it might be worth looking at the new archive more closely.

alexdw commented on 2015-11-05 19:22

@ededison: Thanks for reporting - it looks like they've updated the package (as of 02 November 2015) and possibly even the format: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2=&DSCMI=42015&DSCCHK=61345dbd880d79df5d573b531160e9d5cfd02866

For now I've marked it as out of date, but I'll take a closer look over the weekend.

ededison commented on 2015-11-05 14:20

I am getting a 404 on the iscan-plugin-network and guess the source has been reloacted?

% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed

Thanks :)

I registered to warn about this package being outdated, but saw I was beaten to it. Thanks so much for the update, alexdw, you've saved me from going back to Debian. :)

As an aside for other users experiencing problems getting this to work, you'll likely have to take a couple of extra steps *as root*.

1) nano /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and make the file read only the following:

# enable the next line if you want to allow access through the network:
loader
net
epkowa

Save and exit, and then after setting your Epson's LAN IP as static:

2) nano /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf and change the top section to read:

#usb
#scsi
net 192.168.x.xxx #(YOUR EPSON'S LAN IP)

Save and you should now be fully working.

Sorry for the long comment but if it saves another user the hair-pulling I had, it was worth it lol. Thanks again for the update.

@amonobeax: Thank you - updated.
I wonder if there is a way to dynamically update it from one of the download pages (for instance: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2=&DSCMI=36160&DSCCHK=16f2724dddd92bc4b6041daf1b22ff1464d45aae) or if those themselves change.

Updated again for new version (1.1.1-1) - looks like the download links will need updating every time. I'll adopt this package for now but won't be actively looking for new versions, so if someone could post here each time it needs updating that would be good.

alexdw commented on 2014-04-18 13:02

Updated PKGBUILD for new version (1.1.1) - looks like the download link will have to be maually changed every version:

Here is the updated PKGBUILD for this package. I used the URL's in the previous comments.

When you download the tarball here, just replace the existing PKGBUILD with this one.
I would upload a new one, but, I'm not sure how at the moment.

This is still a recent version of the package...
See here on Epson's website.

Adopted and cleaned the PKGBUILD a bit.

teekay commented on 2011-11-04 08:10

I allowed myself to replace $ARCH with ${CARCH}, so it installs the correct package on x86_64.

Disowning again.

vuokkosetae commented on 2011-01-12 14:06

PKGBUILD is broken. $HOSTTYPE: command not found
Maybe it should be initialized with uname -m or $CARCH could be used. I didn't check out that possibility. I just removed the if statement and got it working.
