Just a small note: latest version of itch-setup is 1.19.

The server-side bug leading to a 404 error has been identified and fixed.

Just to clarify: all the workarounds that were posted online were wrong, the only thing that worked was "retrying" - so changing the URL did nothing, changing the client did nothing, in fact anything client side you did besides retrying did nothing to help.

Sorry for the disturbance all.

@SeriousBug it's due to their server being overloaded: https://github.com/itchio/itch/issues/2403#issuecomment-641966476

I'm getting the following error building the package:

  -> Downloading itch-setup...
  % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
                                 Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
  0     0    0     0    0     0      0      0 --:--:--  0:00:03 --:--:--     0

==> ERROR: Failure while downloading https://broth.itch.ovh/itch-setup/linux-amd64/1.14.0/unpacked/default
    Aborting...

Replacing 1.14.0 with 1.18.0 in the PKGBUILD solves the build issue. However, after installing and running it, itch-setup fails with the following error:

Warm-up error: while installing: broth.itch.ovh: HTTP 404: Invalid file requested

Except itch-setup is outdated. The latest version is 1.18.0

Fair - but the changes from 1.14.0 to 1.18.0 are almost entirely Windows-focused, I wouldn't worry about it for now.

This package tracks itch-setup versions, which always installs the latest itch. Please don't flag this package as out-of-date, it isn't :)

Except itch-setup is outdated. The latest version is 1.18.0 - it's also what's served through http://nuts.itch.zone/download/linux (the "Linux" link on https://itch.io/app)

gtk2 can be dropped too.

Is the gconf dependency real?

It is:

$ cd ~/.itch/app-25.4.0/
$ ldd itch | grep gconf
        libgconf-2.so.4 => /home/amos/.itch/app-25.4.0/./libgconf-2.so.4 (0x00007f936f489000)

Is the gconf dependency real? Just checking. This is the last aur app that keeps gconf on my machine. See: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gconf/ """ Most of the packages that “require” it are actually Electron apps that copy&pasted their dependency lists from elsewhere or failed to update them: Chromium (and subsequently Electron) haven’t been dependent on this for years.
