There is a repository from the same guy that is being developed further on github: https://bitbucket.org/misanthropos/ja2-stracciatella It looks like it builds differently since the PKGBUILD is not working if you simply replace the github url.

Here's the contents of my /home/michael/.ja2/data folder: (btw, "michael" is the only user, other than root) ./COPYING ./ja2 ./ja2.6.gz ./ja2.desktop ./ja2.png ./usr ./usr/bin ./usr/bin/ja2 ./usr/share ./usr/share/applications ./usr/share/applications/ja2.desktop ./usr/share/licences ./usr/share/licences/ja2-svn ./usr/share/licences/ja2-svn/COPYING ./usr/share/man ./usr/share/man/man6 ./usr/share/man/man6/ja2.6.gz ./usr/share/pixmaps ./usr/share/pixmaps/ja2.png (as generated by "tree -fi") And here's my /home/michael/.ja2/ja2.ini: #Tells ja2-stracciatella where the binary datafiles are located data_dir = home/michael/.ja2/data/usr/bin/ja2 home/michael/.ja2/data/*.slf home/michael/.ja2/data/TILECACHE/*.sti home/michael/.ja2/data/TILECACHE/*.jsd I guess the file extensions described in http://pastebin.com/ejFBJabp correspond to the files of the windows installation; perhaps i should change them according to what there is in linux, but anything i change there causes X to crash :-D Could you please show me what a proper ja2.ini should look like? You need to copy the gamefiles in /home/your_user/.ja2/data (not Data) otherwise the game doesn't start,see the readme of the windows version: http://pastebin.com/ejFBJabp Stracciatella 0.12 on my config has bugs (crash when launching grenades),the svn version is almost playable but still have many bugs.

Hello, I'm having some problems running the game. The package is made ok (the dependencies are satisfied, no errors) but after installation with pacman, and after i set the binaries directory in ~/.ja2/ja2.ini as /usr/bin/ja2: #Tells ja2-stracciatella where the binary datafiles are located data_dir = /usr/bin/ja2 the game still wont start. If i try to start it from terminal, it returns: [michael@mike-arch ja2-svn]$ /usr/bin/ja2 ERROR: Failed to open "/usr/bin/ja2/data/data.slf" ERROR: caught unhandled exception: Initialising libraries failed Btw, I get the same problem with the other Jagged Alliance 2 package available here in AUR, the "ja2 0.12.1-1". Any help woulb be much appreciated, since this is definitely the best turn based tactical rpg ever. Thanks in advance, Michael.
