@Bkasthapa I'm out of time for it, sadly. I've disowned it so someone else can take over maintenance.

Can you update the package into its latest stable version?

It should be noted that upstream is deprecating support for Java 7, so be sure you set your environment to openjdk8 before you run this.

2.10.4 released on 13-Jun-2016. So the url "http://swhv.oma.be/download/jhv-2.10.0.6818.bin.tar.gz" doesn't work. It really needs updating. ========= 2.10.5 released yesterday...It seems the package needs update every month...

Flesh: I'm out on vacation now, but I'll see if I can find time tonight to update. But I only have my netbook and I don't know how well it will run, if at all. :) Otherwise I can update it next week, or orphan it if you want to fix it sooner.

I get this "ERROR: Missing package", jhelioviewer.org/downloads/JHelioviewer.jar is not found, looks like they removed it, but I did find it here https://github.com/Helioviewer-Project/JHelioviewer/blob/master/build/linux-build/build/JHelioViewer.jar?raw=true, also current version is 2.3, also it seems that at the site they only support deb and rpm installers, so that is too bad this one does not work, please update it.

beej, I'm sorry I didn't report it back. I didn't have time in April to play with it. However, now, from a different machine I've got the same error with kadaku library. I've found out it's a proxy problem as reported in their bugtrack: https://bugs.launchpad.net/jhelioviewer/+bug/906788?comments=all They are working on a proxy patch, but it has not shown much activity since a year ago. However, if the version they provided with proxy support is used it installs the kadaku library, but because 8090 port is closed on my side I cannot see any image.

beej commented on 2013-04-25 06:46 (UTC)

It starts for me. What exactly are the errors? It creates these two files when it starts: ~/JHelioviewer/Libs/glibc-version-linux-x86-64 ~/JHelioviewer/Libs/LastConfig/glibc-version.xml I don't know about kadaku--I don't have anything by that name on my system.

DvdGC commented on 2013-04-25 06:40 (UTC)

It fails to start because it asks for a kadaku library dependencies and glibc-version tool.

@Addict7 I do have a launch script in there, but did you have a particular one in mind?
