Glad you were able to fix it, I wasn't sure I had to modify the .SRCINFO or just autogenerate it.

Thanks, definitely learned a lesson here, about the packages in AUR :-)

@mingue: Your weren't able to rename it because journal-viewer-src's .SRCINFO had journal-viewer as the pkgname. journal-viewer-bin never actually existed. Now it does.

journal-viewer-src is now an empty dummy package. I submitted a request to merge it into journal-viewer.

Hey @yochananmarqos, I tried to fix the packages but I couldn't this is what I wanted to do

Current Packages

Package Name - Git Repo - Type
journal-viewer - journal-viewer-src - Source
journal-viewer-bin - journal-viewer - Bin

I tried changing the package name journal-viewer to journal-viewer-src, so that it matches the git repo journal-viewer-src, which can be deleted once the fixes are done.

Then, update the package name journal-viewer-bin to journal-viewer, and upload the PKGBUILD to generate the package from sources, rather than bin as it is currently

Lastly, I wanted to create a new package with name, journal-viewer-bin and git repo journal-viewer-bin, to host the binary version of the package

But I keep getting the same issue where it won't allow me to rename the package

2023-04-24 17:02:32.954 [info] remote: error: cannot overwrite package: journal-viewer
remote: error: hook declined to update refs/heads/master
To ssh://aur.archlinux.org/journal-viewer.git
! [remote rejected] master -> master (hook declined)
error: failed to push some refs to 'ssh://aur.archlinux.org/journal-viewer.git'
Future

Package Name - Git Repo - Type - Action
journal-viewer-src - journal-viewer-src - Source - To Delete
journal-viewer - journal-viewer - Source - Becomes src package
journal-viewer-bin - journal-viewer-bin - Bin - Becomes bin package

I made you co-maintainer, hopefully you know how to undo the mess, thanks.

@mingue: No aggressiveness in any shape or form was intended.

mingue commented on 2023-04-22 22:47 (UTC)

There is no need to be passive aggressive a detail of the error would have been an easier conversation, I was just asking for that as I tested yesterday with paru and manage to install the packages fine in other computer.

I'll try to fix later today the issues, but people with the bin package might get the src one after the change? Anyway let me try to untangle the mess or give you access

yochananmarqos commented on 2023-04-22 22:11 (UTC)

Oh, forgot to mention--If you want help, add me as a Co-Maintainer and I can see if I can fix it.

...and no, they are not working fine. If they were, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

yochananmarqos commented on 2023-04-22 22:10 (UTC)

@mingue: Well, try journal-viewer first instead.

Again, the problem is with the conflicting pkgbases, not lack of permissions.

mingue commented on 2023-04-22 21:42 (UTC) (edited on 2023-04-22 21:43 (UTC) by mingue)

Unfortunately because of the way the git repos were created it is not going to allow me to do that without removing the existing repositories, which I don't seem to be capable of.

As journal-viewer-bin package name is already used by this repo, with has the git repo ssh://aur@aur.archlinux.org/journal-viewer.git

They do seem to be working fine though and I don't think I have enough permissions to fix this mixed up

yochananmarqos commented on 2023-04-22 21:25 (UTC)

@mingue: Delete all local files you have and start over. Make sure you start with journal-viewer-bin:

git clone ssh://aur@aur.archlinux.org/journal-viewer-bin.git
cd journal-viewer-bin
makepkg --printsrcinfo > .SRCINFO
git add -u
git commit -m "update .SRCINFO"
git push
git clone ssh://aur@aur.archlinux.org/journal-viewer.git
cd journal-viewer
makepkg --printsrcinfo > .SRCINFO
git add -u
git commit -m "update .SRCINFO"
git push

mingue commented on 2023-04-22 21:21 (UTC)

I think it has to do with the name of the git repository when I created it, they are bit mixed up, so it seems the .SRCINFO needs to align with that, which is a bit confusing but won't allow me to push changes otherwise. They seem to work fine though, otherwise I might need to remove these repos and create them again?

And the journal-viewer Git repo is journal-viewer-src, so get the same issue if trying to push any changes without including the src
