Adopt it yourself then.

Pls adopt this package as I dunno how to build latest Kdiff without KDE deps :)

8.1.1 gcc - all builds fine

This build dies for me on gcc 6.3.1: diff.cpp: In member function ‘void SourceData::FileData::preprocess(bool, QTextCodec*)’: diff.cpp:894:16: error: ambiguous overload for ‘operator==’ (operand types are ‘const QChar’ and ‘char’) if ( p[i]=='\0' ) The following patch worked: edit: I guess AUR formatter doesn't like patches. At any rate, changing the line in question to if ( p[i]==QChar('\0') ) works.

Thanks! That did it. I would never have thought of that. Sorry!

Maybe the optional dependencies for the xcb backend are not installed? $ pacman -Qi qt5-base | grep xcb Depends On : libjpeg-turbo xcb-util-keysyms libgl dbus fontconfig systemd xcb-util-wm libxrender libxi sqlite xcb-util-image icu qtchooser libxkbcommon-x11: xcb plugin [installed] libsm: xcb plugin [installed]

This seems to happen regardless if I have QT_PLUGIN_PATH set. [swinchen@splice ~]$ ls -l /usr/lib/qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 775352 May 14 02:30 /usr/lib/qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so [swinchen@splice ~]$ pacman -Qo /usr/lib/qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so /usr/lib/qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so is owned by qt5-base 5.4.1-8 [swinchen@splice ~]$ echo $QT_PLUGIN_PATH /usr/lib/qt/plugins [swinchen@splice ~]$ kdiff3 This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb". Available platform plugins are: eglfs, kms, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, xcb. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Aborted (core dumped)

According to [1], it is related to the QT_PLUGIN_PATH. Does /usr/lib/qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so exist on your system (owned by qt5-base)? Did you set/adjust the QT_PLUGIN_PATH variable? I get this when starting kdiff3. I checked and library dependencies look ok. [swinchen@splice ~]$ kdiff3 This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb". Available platform plugins are: eglfs, kms, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, xcb. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
