I updated the the source URL and the md5sum as well. If do you find an SSD which has newer FW on the manufacturer's website, let me know and I'll add that to the repo.

It hasn't been updated

vinibali commented on 2021-12-19 11:34 (UTC)

updated, thanks for the hint!

shawe commented on 2021-12-19 11:03 (UTC)

Please, update the md5sums value with that:

I'm the package and the tool maintainer in one person (not the developer). I downloaded the FW packages one by one back in years, this is why the missing fw files, but I'll take care of the rest soon. Thanks

Thanks a lot for this awesome app. I managed to update my SV300S37A/240G from 521 to 603. However, 2 newer firmwares are supposed to be available. The latest is 60AABBF0, released at 05/28/16. Do you know why this version is not available?

Malvineous commented on 2020-04-26 01:57 (UTC)

Worked it out - ran it as strace /opt/kfu/bin/kfu 2>&1 | grep open | grep -i ttf and turned out it was loading the Joypixels emoji font. Temporarily getting rid of that (mv /usr/share/fonts/joypixels/ /root/) did the trick.

Unfortunately the tool doesn't recognise a SandForce controller in firmware recovery mode though, so no firmware update for me :(

Malvineous commented on 2020-04-26 01:50 (UTC)

Any idea how to get the fonts to work? I've tried it on two machines and it opens a window with two tabs and a picture in the background but there's no text in the UI at all.

Ok, Vinibali thanks for your answer, I've been looking information and seems that is not possible update this firmware at least with Linux.

vinibali commented on 2019-06-16 19:23 (UTC)

you drive is based on a Phison controller and not Sandforce.

I Tried this tool to update the firmware in a SA400 ssd drive, but it is not detected. Do you know if this tool can update the firmware in this ssd drive?. Are you working in a new version of this tools?.

Thank you, worked well on my Kingston SV300 ssd. At first the application segfaulted and then I ran it without SUDO where it popped up even though it didn't detect the drive, second time I ran it with SUDO and it opened up and detected the drive and updated the firmware.

vinibali commented on 2018-11-11 18:02 (UTC)

that's based on a Marvell controller

these are the available firmware versions for your drive

When I run kfu I have two choices for my SSD (SV300S37A), 525 and 603. Is this just the version of the firmware? May I use either one for my SSD?

32-bit live usb solved my problem.

ardadem commented on 2018-07-15 12:13 (UTC)

same problem with @phda. i found my ssd configuration config but what can i do with that?

vinibali commented on 2018-04-04 16:42 (UTC)

After a segfault, you should restart the application. It might happen, I couldn't figure out what's wrong with the binary. I will upload a video later about a successful upgrade. Try to search for the fw file in the /custom directory according your device's configuration number [2-3][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9].

phda commented on 2018-04-03 17:59 (UTC)

It lists my block devices and then segfaults, anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?
