There is a newer build out released on April 7th 2013.

Also the repository has changed from /kokua-3.5.1/downloads to /kokua-3.5.1-chui/downloads

:)

Fixed. Thank you!

The 64-bit version has changed names - it was necessary to change the wget and untar commands to use the new file.

Old File:
http://bitbucket.org/NickyP/kokua-3.5.1/downloads/Kokua-3.5.1-Linux64-optimized.tar.bz2
New File:
https://bitbucket.org/NickyP/kokua-3.5.1/downloads/Kokua-3.5.1-Linux64.tar.bz2

OK, seems you are right after all! For some reason, makepkg's downloader completes the download, but keeps the file as something.tar.bz2.part, instead of renaming it to something.tar.bz2, hence everything afterwards fails. I'm filing a bug report. In the meantime, the workaround is to wait until until the download finishes, manually rename it, then run makepkg again.

And this happens with no other package from the AUR? I seriously have no idea what's wrong. I think you should ask at the forums or at IRC. I am sorry, I cannot help.

OxHaK, I seriously fail to see what's wrong. The package "builds" for me both with yaourt and makepkg. Have you tried downloading the source tarball, extracting it and running makepkg in it? Also, has your /tmp directory enough space?
