Hi, Lemme put my two cents in - dependencies on libgnome(ui) that were added to PKGBUILD are IMO completely worthless. I've been using this package for few moths on KDE without them, with no glitches/crashes whatsoever. Is it really needed to pull into a non-gnome system dozens of gnome deps (gnome-vfs, bunch of libgnome*, gvfs, orbit) that komodo is obviously fine without? I've never had these installed. Thanks.

The crash always occurred at start up. Those messages at start up may (very probably, I think) not be related to the crash. Yesterday I made minor changes to the PKGBUILD file and ran makepkg -i after each modification. Sometimes komodo-edit would always crash after an installation. I updated everything. Removed the config folder. Restarted the PC. Komodo-edit launches fine, this time. If the crash comes back, maybe we could run strace or a similar tool, to check for errors or compare different outputs.

@willemw, @sylvite : Could you try the new version (8.5.2_13850-2) ?

@willemw, @sylvite : Messages like 'GLib-GObject-WARNING' disapeared when i downgrade glib2 : * glib2 -> 2.36.4-1 * gvfs -> 1.18.2-1 I can't repoduce your problems on my installation. I've tried to install komodoedit manually but both manual and packaged installations works fine even if install libgnomeui. I need some infos to try to find what's wrong : * Do you have problems only using latest version 8.5.2_13850-1 of my package ? * Does the crashes occures at startup or after some steps ? * Could you try removing your ~/.komodoedit directory (backup it before) ?

Hi, ill try to investigate to find where is the problem but I use xfce and komodo-edit never crash on my machines so i need your feedback to find what's wrong. @willemw : your error messages are libgnomeui related and i don't get them even if i install it. eg : (komodo edit:26314): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::sm-connect after class was initialised @sylvite : As you can see, this package does this actions : 1 - download tar.gz 'package' from activestate 2 - patch the install to remove verbose messages during installation 3 - go to extracted directory 4 - launch install.sh -s -I /opt/komodo-edit 5 - Make a usable .desktop file so komodo appears in your menus 6 - Make a symlink so komodo can be launched from command-line I really don't know why this is different from a manual installation Perhaps you can help ?

Sorry, ignore my previous comment. I tried my fix again. Now it crashes again. (Looking at the patch file, I realize that it is very unlikely it has anything to do with the core dump anyway).

((OT: *sigh* Please keep this area for bugs, patches, etc - if you want to rant about benefits and disadvantages of AUR please use the forum...)) B2T: Besides the patch i cant really see anything obvious in the PKGBUILD. I installed (or better updated) using the previous PKGBUILD and my posted changes (diff is the same besides pkgrel so patch was active) and did not run into this issue on x86_64. Since the messages mentioned it: I dont have gnome on this machine, will have a look on other ones with gnome later.

Same output and core dump as @willemw. Commenting out 'patch... ' didn't help-- still core dumps. Just as my comment on 2013-06-10 15:16: Simply downloading the .tar.gz, extracting, and running install.sh, the package from activestate works fine. So there's something wrong the AUR packaging, not the app itself.

Komodo-edit fails to start: (process:26314): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed (komodo edit:26314): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::sm-connect after class was initialised (komodo edit:26314): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::show-crash-dialog after class was initialised (komodo edit:26314): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::display after class was initialised (komodo edit:26314): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::default-icon after class was initialised Segmentation fault (core dumped) Commenting out 'patch ...' in prepare() solves it for me (x86_64). Also, build() can be removed.
