@dreieck I do not know what is wrong on your end, but on my computer it is building fine and has no problems with the md5sums... maybe the download was not finished correctly (and so the checksum was wrong)

dreieck commented on 2022-08-25 20:02 (UTC)

Checksum verification fails:

==> Validating source files with md5sums...
    KyoceraLinuxPackages_20220203_tar_gz.download.gz ... FAILED

Thanks for maintaining!

I think the PKGBUILD file should be udpated with the information that @timhilt is providing here. Thank you very much.

There is a new version 9.1.0! Can the version be bumped? I tried the old source-URL and received a 404. I replaced the date-stamp with 20220203 and it worked. https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.de/de/support/downloads.name-L2RlL2RlL21mcC9FQ09TWVNNNTUyMUNEVw==.html#tab=driver lists the new publish-date at the top option.

For Kyocera M5521cdw the additional package python-pypdf3 is still missing in the dependencies. It's quite hard to find out that this package is the missing part to get the printers working. I think it would make sense to not only setting it as optional dependency.

There is a missing dependency, I think: python-pyPDF3 is needed by some processing steps required by some printers

Newer printers does work with this driver, for example the Kyocera P5026CDN. Older printers like Kyocera FS-6525MFP will not work properly, unless if you're lucky enough. Keep in mind: this is Kyocera's fault for not updating their packages to linux. I already told the company about this problem but they ignored my mail.

For me the build fails (on '5.8.18-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Nov 1 14:10:04 UTC 2020 x86_64 GNU/Linux') with

Failed to build kyocera_universal

Edit: Actually I was able to fix it by manually changing the source file in my case to the italian location: https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.it/content/download-center/it/drivers/all/KyoceraLinux_Phase5_2018_08_29_zip.download.zip

Changes required for 5.0:

  • Downloaded zip contains tar.gz at top level
  • /usr/share/kyocera → /usr/share/kyocera5
  • kyodialog4 → kyodialog5
  • […]_E → […]_F
