Hi mrechte, it seems you are not familiar with makepkg. During compilation, makepkg updates the version in the PKGBUILD file itself. The value of pkgver reflects the version of the last build that done.

Hello. Why do set pkgver=0.49.4.r9002.gd03cfa0b2 whereas it seems to retrieve the latest git commit ?

Hi Joshix, the link you provide is dangling. On my side, I am not 100% certain that lbry can work with another provider of that dependency. Did not try because gnome-keyring is installed on my machine. Did you try on your side without gnome-keyring installed ?

Joshix commented on 2021-03-03 20:45 (UTC)

you should use the org.freedesktop.secrets dependency instead of gnome-keyring https://archlinux.org/todo/gnome-keyring-dependency-replacement-with-orgfreedesktopsecrets/

@gardenappl Now done, thanks for the suggestion.

Could you mark this as "provides lbrynet"? For compatibility with https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lbrynet-bin/ and tools that depend on it

Oh, and if you do this, you might want to symlink /usr/bin/lbrynet to /opt/LBRY/resources/static/daemon/lbrynet

@marzoul I gotcha, thanks for replying! Maybe one day someone with the knowhow will do it. Either way LBRY is awesome and worth the package redundancy. I just hope at least electron gets ozone support by default soon.

Hi Sukid. I am also sensitive to separation of packages and reuse. However I have zero knowledge about the technologies involved in implementation of lbry. I am merely a user that managed to build a package from official compilation guidelines ;-) Electron is not the only package that we should pull out of that lbry one... look at contents of pkg/lbry-desktop-git/opt/LBRY/ after compilation. But dependencies on specific versions is unknown. It would take a lot of time...

Sukid commented on 2020-11-12 06:04 (UTC)

Would there be any way to get this working with either the system installed Electron or otherwise with an ozone-patched electron? A binary of electron-ozone can be found on chaotic-aur.
