IF PROBLEM HAPPEN

this package is our try to put amdgpu in ARCH, but this could break or have problems as amd update and change their packages for ubuntu

if anything happens you can always download a older tag in https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/releases and get the PKGBUILD there, and use makepkg with that build while we update or try to fix :)

ALWAYS USE LINUX-FIRMWARE-GIT IF LATEST DRIVER FAIL BEFORE ISSUE SOME ERROR

Regarding the "Outdated" Flag

For whoever is flagging this as outdated: as stated in the project's GitHub documentation, you need to check https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/.

The latest versions available are:

6.4.2.1/ (06-Aug-2025 19:09)
6.4.3/ (07-Aug-2025 15:06)

The version you are flagging as the cause of the outdated (6.4.3) has NO PROPRIETARY RELEASE.

Check for yourself: https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.4.3/ubuntu/dists/jammy/proprietary/binary-amd64/ (The Packages file is 0 bytes: https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.4.3/ubuntu/dists/jammy/proprietary/binary-amd64/Packages)

This means version 6.4.3 is NOT READY FOR USE.

Therefore, only https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.4.2.1/ubuntu/dists/jammy/proprietary/binary-amd64/ is ready to be used. Sometimes AMD does that releases that we cannot use, or that are not ready at all, that happens a lot of times, don't flag this outdated for this cases

Please stop flagging packages as outdated when they don't have a complete proprietary release.

Thanks for all who contributed time in maintaining this package base.

i`ll update again for the next update, but this should die soon

mesmer commented on 2025-06-24 21:16 (UTC)

i`ll do the last update of this package and this will enter KTLO state, i think in a couple of months this package will be deleted, as i can see mesa is enough for majority of cases right now

@mesmer I requested transfer https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro project (PKGBUILD generator) to your namespace. Please confirm.

When that repository will not be needed, you could just archive that.

That's really good news, so maybe soon enough this package will not be needed !!

@mesmer My sources at AMD are saying the amdgpu-pro drivers are being discontinued in favor of Mesa, primarily for OpenGL-Pro, AMF-Pro, and Vulkan-Pro only. News was announced on Phoronix recently.

Amdvlk will be continuing in development as the in-house solution.

AMF will be relegated to Mesa and FFMPEG efforts.

updated to 6.3.4 like @reaperx7 said, try to use the -git firmware, and if can wait for the main repo to be with the correct packages

reaperx7 commented on 2025-03-13 10:08 (UTC)

@kins these drivers are mainly for professional workflows. While you can use them for gaming purposes as a stopgap solution until Mesa-25 is moved from testing to mainline, yes, they will have some reduced performance compared to radv and amdvlk. This, however, is due to the drivers being engineered for rendering accuracy rather than performance.
