I don't know if this is still needed by anyone.

mp3blaster package has been nuked from AUR, so I guess nobody is using it. If anybody would need it, feel free to take ownership of package.

I think this needs options=(!lto) in order to compile in a clean chroot. If lto is enabled, I get an error related to the functions strnicmp and stricmp; disabling it fixes the issue. I have no idea why this is the case (I can provide logs if needed).

Hm, this Gentoo packaging is confusing.

Indeed, that package entry is for both libsidplay1 and libsidplay2.

But their current VLC 3.0.20 depends on libsidplay2.

And they have stopped updating their gst-plugins-sidplay build (which depends on libsidplay1) since GStreamer 1.20.6 (released on 23 February 2023)..

And none of the sidplay libraries can play N64 (Nintendo 64) music.

They were made to emulate the Commodore 64 (C64) sound module (called the SID chip, a.k.a. MOS 6581), designed in 1981.

That Gentoo link points to their packaging of libsidplay v2, also known as (lib)sidplay2. That is not libsidplay v1.

I can see that in Gentoo world lot of packages depends on it https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/media-libs/libsidplay/reverse-dependencies

for example VLC or gstreamer. For ones who would like to play N64 music )

strange, there were one package that was depending on this one beyond mp3blaster as an optional dependency, now it is gone.

I have forked it from https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/libsidplay

As this package had been removed from official ARCH repository.
