The "proper" way is to open a merge or deletion request. But then the package disappears from AUR without any notification to users.

I like to convert them into metapackages for a little while to help users migrate to the new package. Also, if the other package does something unexpected, you'd have a short grace period to roll back.

I prefer deletion requests because merges transfer comments, which are usually not relevant to the other package. I think when the maintainer opens the request, long explanation isn't needed. Something like "no longer needed" is often enough.

@xiota Probably no need to keep this package then, what's the proper way to merge them or something?

Note: lightly-git recently switched to the boehs fork.
