After the recent PKGBUILD update, it stopped booting up for me:

Warning: /lib/modules/4.13.694834.e16e1739c334/modules.devname not found – ignoring
starting version 234
ERROR: resume: hibernation device ‘UUID=xxx-swap’ not found.
mount: /new_root: can’t find UUID=xxx.
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
sh: can’t access tty: job control turned off
[rootfs] #

EDIT: Solved, had to run sudo mkinitcpio -p linux-amd-staging-git again.

legacynl - try building it with "git clone" and "makepkg -sri" and see if you still have the same issue. Sometimes yaourt just doesn't build packages very well.

I get an error while installing.

"install: cannot stat '/tmp/yaourt-tmp-username/aur-linux-amd-staging-drm-next-git/src/linux-amd-staging-drm-next-git.preset': No such file or directory

the version 2 of the patches were merged to the amd-staging and amd-staging-drm-next branches so you don't need to apply them anymore

The mesa-git unofficial repo has this package precompiled so once it gets rebuilt then you no longer need to compile yourself and mess with PKGBUILDS

I installed 2a69a4b35621 successfully accordint to @ejr patch suggestion. But ran into a problem that doesn't appear with previous kernel while new kernel starting. Rootfs cannot mount because hadn't found UUID. As a solution i'v placed hook "block" before "autodetect" in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and generate kernel image.

both the git revert and patch don't work.

You could try it: install dwm and resize many windows with ALT+RightClick it will crash. If you don't resize you can use it 2-4h without Problems but then X crash but the pc is up and you can connect via ssh.

you can git revert local without loging "-d" (git -d revert fd8bf087dffc)

I test it with Vega 56.

It looks like they've been mucking with the patch, so you can try
I don't know if that one is any different from the patchworks one, I haven't had the time to look

git revert fd8bf087dffc works for me, however

@jugs same here

I'm still seeing freezing with that patch, but not with those VM_CONTEXT1_PROTECTION_FAULTs...

Seems like mkinitcpio is broken in the current PKGBUILD.
I modified ejr's drm-next PKGBUILD which seems to work fine.
