Upstream doesn't sign most commits anymore, so GPG signature check is disabled. They still sign every tag. Packages in the official repos package tags. You can check signatures with the following commands:

$ git log --format=raw --show-signature main
$ git tag -v $(git tag)

edit: found my problem the key server it could be useful for other people.

The default port is an high port and your ISP might filter it out!

use :80 in the ubuntu one and it should work:

pal ➜  ~  gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 4CDE8575E547BF835FE15807A31B6BD72486CFD6
gpg: key A31B6BD72486CFD6: public key "Josh Boyer <jwboyer@fedoraproject.org>" imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg:               imported: 1

Please update the PKGBUILD to make use of pacman 4.1 CVS PKGBUILD features. Here's one I made earlier, feel free to use it: https://raw.github.com/WorMzy/PKGBUILDs/master/linux-firmware-git-PKGBUILD

Thanks. Removed to external carl9170 firmware.

carl9170 is now part of the main tree.

Switched back to git.kernel.org repository.

thanks for fixing this package!

I've found the repository at the repo owner's site. This package will use this source until the sources at kernel.org are restored. Thanks for your patience.

<deleted-account> commented on 2011-10-07 09:13 (UTC)

the source is still broken, but http://distfiles.lesslinux.org/carl9170-1.fw works. Unfortunately, the git repo (git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dwmw2/linux-firmware.git) is either gone or still not restored after the problems they had... :(

xduugu commented on 2011-10-04 12:42 (UTC)

Hmm... I get an "550 Failed to change directory." for this url. But anyway, is the repository for this package already up again? I couldn't find it at git.kernel.org.

The source is broken :S You can replace it with ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/chr/carl9170/fw/1.9.2/carl9170-1.fw That now is working again :D

Thanks, never noticed that since I usually remove the src folder before/after building. Should be fixed now.
