!!! IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING linux-mainline-um5606 !!!
I will be deprecating this package upon the release of Linux 6.14rc1, as the only remaining patch for this series of laptops has been merged into Linux and is slated for release in 6.14rc1!

Thank you all for using this package for the last few months!! ❤️🐧

@alluro2 maybe the Ubuntu system is stuck in Quiet profile? I play with them all the times depending on what I'm doing. Video playback/web browsing? Quiet is enough. IDE usage? Balanced. Sometimes, compile on Performance.
I'm using this: https://gitlab.com/asus-linux/asusctl

@VanKurt - agreed, it's quite frustrating...As soon as any website or any other process is using the GPU - AT ALL - fans kick in, laptop is hot, drama... My colleague is using the same laptop on Ubuntu, with 6.12 and has no issues whatsoever, neither with freezing, nor fans/temperature, which I don't get how it's possible.

@sigxcpu thank you for pointing that out! Updated to rc7, and removed the temp patch.

FYI -rc7 also works beautifully. The amdgpu patch is already applied (https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/diff/drivers/gpu/drm/amd/display/dc/dml/dml_inline_defs.h?id=v6.13-rc7&id2=v6.13-rc6).
I am using the latest magic kernel parameters: amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 amdgpu.sg_display=0

This package also works on my ASUS Vivobook S14 M5406WA with AMD Ryzen AI 9 365. No freeze anymore!

@iiiiciiii But I think the performance is not where it should be. GPU-intense tasks (video playback, CAD, gaming) make the machine run hot, loud and drain the battery fast. My old notebook (ancient Intel Iris GPU) can handle the same tasks without breaking a sweat.

@VanKurt That‘s amazing I‘ll have to try that soon :)
VanKurt commented on 2025-01-11 14:22 (UTC)
@iiiiciiii The freezing issues are fully gone. I have tested several workloads (video streaming, browsing, 3D CAD, gaming...) for several hours without any issues. Awesome!
