Thanks to @donvla, linvst is now build from source.

linvst.so is now placed under /usr/lib/vst/

@funkmuscle i cant reproduce that. Is that still a problem?

@donvla still failed to build: ==> Validating source files with sha256sums... LinVst ... Skipped vstsdk369_01_03_2018_build_132.zip ... Passed ==> Extracting sources... -> Creating working copy of LinVst git repo... Cloning into 'LinVst'... done. -> Extracting vstsdk369_01_03_2018_build_132.zip with bsdtar ==> Starting prepare()... ==> Starting pkgver()... Usage: sed [OPTION]... {script-only-if-no-other-script} [input-file]...

-n, --quiet, --silent suppress automatic printing of pattern space -e script, --expression=script add the script to the commands to be executed -f script-file, --file=script-file add the contents of script-file to the commands to be executed --follow-symlinks follow symlinks when processing in place -i[SUFFIX], --in-place[=SUFFIX] edit files in place (makes backup if SUFFIX supplied) -l N, --line-length=N specify the desired line-wrap length for the `l' command --posix disable all GNU extensions. -E, -r, --regexp-extended use extended regular expressions in the script (for portability use POSIX -E). -s, --separate consider files as separate rather than as a single, continuous long stream. --sandbox operate in sandbox mode. -u, --unbuffered load minimal amounts of data from the input files and flush the output buffers more often -z, --null-data separate lines by NUL characters --help display this help and exit --version output version information and exit

If no -e, --expression, -f, or --file option is given, then the first non-option argument is taken as the sed script to interpret. All remaining arguments are names of input files; if no input files are specified, then the standard input is read.

GNU sed home page: <http://www.gnu.org/software/sed/>. General help using GNU software: <http://www.gnu.org/gethelp/>. ==> ERROR: pkgver is not allowed to be empty. ==> ERROR: pkgver() generated an invalid version: :: Unable to build linvst - makepkg exited with code: 1

Here is a working PKGBUILD: http://pasted.co/4db87e02

Maybe there are more dependencies needed.

I tried it, but it never worked. I get exceptions like:

wine: Unhandled exception 0xc06d007e in thread 12 at address 0x7b44c907 (thread 0012), starting debugger...

Most likely it needs to be compiled with wine 32bit gcc which does not seems to be that easy.

Btw this is the PKGBUILD I used, if you get it working, i'm open to change over to using source: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/31f22875a29f8a8a73c075b5fd36222a

Quick question: What's the reason for not building this from source? Is it too difficult? Doesn't it work? Or just convenience?

Download link is broken

Ok so I did do it right.. Just Ardour it shows up as ladspa. Works fine in MuSE 3. Can't get it yet in Reaper but I will. thanx.

linvst.so should be installed to /usr/bin/linvst.so along with other binaries.

from https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst/blob/master/README.md:
> copy linvst.so to wherever the windows vst dll file is that someone wants to run in a Linux DAW, and then rename linvst.so to the windows vst DLL filename

make sure this newly renamed .so file is in an directory that your DAW will scan for VSTs. In Reaper this is under Reaper Preferences->Plugins->VST->VST plugin paths

hey how does this work? from the git site it mentions things such as linconvert, lin-vst-server and the PKGBUILD said installed linvst in /usr/bin yet I can't find anything but I've noticed that some of my windows vsts are now ladspa plugins.
