Doesn't work for a number of reasons:

  • Doesn't declare dependencies on needed perl modules.
  • Incompatible with system expat.

@shierji thanks for the report, in fact I have that installed as dependency of another program

btw another planned change is versioned dependency of perl so this https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/logitechmediaserver-bin#comment-992892 will not happen again, the downside will be that you can't updated perl of course

With this package i got this error:

Bad repository https://lms-community.github.io/lms-plugin-repository/extensions.xml - Can't connect to https URL lack of IO::Socket::SSL: https://lyrion.org/lms-plugin-repository/extensions.xml

I tried to install perl-io-socket-ssl then fix this problem, so you should add perl-io-socket-ssl as an dependency

I have removed logitechmediaserver-git and I have the same error reported. Only reinstalling logitechmediaserver-git but starting logitechmediaserver-bin service the problem disappears... maybe the install file?

yes, there is the post_remove() function there

After installing logitechmediaserver-git (that is failing with the ussual error about Scale plugin), I installed logitechmediaserver-bin with your commit and now logitechmediaserver-bin is working. No errors

I have bumped the version locally https://github.com/FabioLolix/PKGBUILD/commit/fe9ff1d86015320fe49e1af417e010dc0e03418d

but it fails with:

dic 03 23:35:12 archlinux systemd[1]: Started Logitech Media Server Daemon.
dic 03 23:35:12 archlinux (erver.pl)[362098]: logitechmediaserver-bin.service: Failed to determine user credentials: No such process
dic 03 23:35:12 archlinux (erver.pl)[362098]: logitechmediaserver-bin.service: Failed at step USER spawning /opt/logitechmediaserver-bin/slimserver.pl: No such process
dic 03 23:35:12 archlinux systemd[1]: logitechmediaserver-bin.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=217/USER
dic 03 23:35:12 archlinux systemd[1]: logitechmediaserver-bin.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.

Which I guess is related to the user/group things

I hit this perl 5.40 yesterday, and had a (not so) fun time downgrading perl and 45 other packages to earlier versions compatible to perl 5.38.

Looking Lyrion github, it appears that perl 5.40 is only available on LMS 9.0 (https://github.com/LMS-Community/slimserver/tree/public/9.0/CPAN/arch). Is it perhaps time for this package to be based on 9.0, so that we don't have to hold back updates to perl and related packages?

It seems that dowgrading perl to version 5.38.2 will fix the problem Even compiling the git version with perl 5.40.0 was not working
