Maybe it would be easier to just create a TOML file? As per current Python 3 guidelines?
Setuptools is marked deprecated for quite some time now.
The new TOML format seems much simpler.

Now I see. They neglected to update the setup.py properly, and they've just commented out the main setup logic...

Funny, I already had the changes in place locally but totally forgot about them.
The reason it's not published is that their setup spits a
Setup für Python3-Version not yet ready...

Discontinued in 2015. Developer recommends the following continuation fork that works well with Python 3:
