I tested it and it worked for me, but since ${startdir}/pkg is wrong and some optional dependencies were incorrect I updated the PKGBUILD :) Thanks!

The package that is created contains nothing.

Modifies the PKGBUILD and change

python2 install --packaging-mode --root=${startdir}/pkg --prefix=/usr

python2 install --packaging-mode --root=${pkgdir} --prefix=/usr

I even put a nice warning to the install:

>> If you want to use this for downloading to this machine,
>> you must install sabnzbd!!!

GERGE commented on 2011-11-18 18:29

I did read it. Apparently you did not:

You don’t need SABnzbd if you only want to manage the downloads of another computer.

It is a SABnzbd+ GUI front-end. SABnzbd+ doesn't need to be installed for it to work.

lottanzb is a GUI front end for SABnzbd, it is required to make lottanzb work.

Unless someone has some how hacked this version to work on it's own, which I doubt.

Look here to read the 'Required Packages'

GERGE commented on 2011-11-12 16:57

That's true. Fixed.

sabnzbd is no dependence of lottanzb. You can use lottanzb to controller sabnzbd on another pc, like I do. Sabnzbd should be added as optional dependency, not as required dependency.

Beelzebud > thanks for the tips ! I've also had to disable the API key in the sabnzbd web interface..

What you're seeing is a problem with Sabnzbd, not necessarily lottanzb. I found this on the thread for sab:

If you get the python error:
File "/opt/sabnzbd/", line 20
print "Sorry, requires Python 2.4 or higher."

Just amend the startup script:
nano /usr/bin/sabnzbd

python /opt/sabnzbd/ -f $HOME/.sabnzbd.ini "$@"

python2 /opt/sabnzbd/ -f $HOME/.sabnzbd.ini "$@"

I did this and everything is functioning 100% correctly. Even downloaded something and verified. All worked okay.

Ok solved by running sabnzbd daemon, but now I've got "invalid API key"....

LeCrayonVert commented on 2011-02-15 23:28

Got kinda python2 issue with this new PKGBUILD when running :
File "/opt/sabnzbd/" line 20
print "Sorry, requires Python 2.4 or higher"
SyntaxError :invalid syntax

Updated to 0.6. Build fine. I orphan it since I don't use it anymore.

LottaNZB 0.6 has just been released after almost 2 years of development. Compared to previous versions of LottaNZB, it's based on SABnzbd and there are some additional dependency changes documented in README. It looks like it got considerably harder to keep HellaNZB in a working state lately, so this release is hopefully a relief for LottaNZB users.

@LeCrayonVert: Yes... python2 is now python 2.7, so Hellanzb must be reinstalled as a python 2.7 module (and not a python 2.6 for old installs)

ianux commented on 2010-10-20 16:34

PKGBUILD fixed for python2

LeCrayonVert commented on 2010-10-20 13:28

Sorry, fixed by reinstalling hellanzb ;)

aerdhyl >> with your PKGBUILD, I've got this error :
13:41:09 lottanzb.core ImportError: No module named Hellanzb.Core

The PKGBUILD adapted for the change python -> python2 :

This output occurs when a copy of the lottanzb executable called exists, which is then imported by the executable instead of the actual code. You might want to check /usr/bin for a file called and delete it. is generated temporarily during the installation and should be deleted unless the installation is interrupted.

I have testing enabled, since the python rebuild i get this error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/lottanzb", line 3, in <module>
from lottanzb.core import App
ImportError: No module named lottanzb.core
