Updated the dependencies. Also added a desktop shortcut for the level editor. Thanks, @ondoho.

★★★★☆
Not true, this game is very easy to play. :) IMHO much easier than eg: toca. Ideal for slow/old machines.

★★☆☆☆
The physic mechanics of ManiaDrive make the game difficult to play.

ondoho commented on 2015-04-19 18:36

builds & intsalls, but:
$ maniadrive
error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

- i had to install lib32-glu, now it runs fine.

xyproto commented on 2013-09-02 10:10

3ED_0, the problem is that you have an old i686 CPU that does not support SSE2. I'll remove SSE2 support from the Go package and gendesk package for i686, as I just found out that this is our current policy for i686 packages (even though the users that don't support SSE2 is in the minority). Users of i686+SSE2 can thank you ;) (but the package will work for you, soon)

3ED_0 commented on 2013-08-31 11:56

Memory and hardrive are ok. Perl, Python, mono, vala, C, C++, etc - works fine.
IMHO with GO is something not right (not enough mature?): http://ix.io/7Iw
BTW, cpu: Athlon-XP 2000+

xyproto commented on 2013-08-30 22:25

It may be your installation, harddrive or memory. Do you have the chance to try on another computer?

Anyone else have the same issue?

3ED_0 commented on 2013-08-30 11:56

"just reinstall gendesk."
nothing change.. :[

xyproto commented on 2013-08-30 09:41

Actually, you don't need the go package, just reinstall gendesk.

xyproto commented on 2013-08-30 09:40

@3ED_0 We are in the process of removing all .desktop files from all packages. See: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DeveloperWiki:Removal_of_desktop_files

Maniadrive is pretty fun, but the upstream developers have been unresponsive for years now, so making them include a .desktop file (which is the "correct" approach) doesn't seem to be feasible.

Just tested building the package on i686 and it works completely fine.

Did you reinstall go and gendesk? Please do that and try again.

3ED_0 commented on 2013-08-30 09:32

i686

I didn't do anything with "go". I don't use it, I don't touch it.
All packages available in repo are installed from repo.

BTW. Is "gendesk" really necessary for this one small file?

xyproto commented on 2013-08-30 09:13

@3ED_0, I asked around in #go-nuts at irc.freenode.net, and they all say that it's your Go setup that is messed up.

Reinstall any packages you have installed that is related to go or gendesk, especially if you have installed them from AUR instead of from the official repos.

xyproto commented on 2013-08-30 09:05

@3ED_0 are you on x86_64 or i686? I'm unable to reproduce the error you get.

3ED_0 commented on 2013-08-30 00:33

Please, don't use gendesk. Dunno what happens but I see error.. http://ix.io/7G7

Version without gendesk, overwrite those files..

"Maniadrive" fails the checksum test

xyproto commented on 2012-02-23 10:26

Could this be an Intel-specific problem? Any other graphics cards out there with the same problem?

DarwinSurvivor commented on 2012-02-23 07:11

x220 laptop with 64 bit Intel Sandy Bridge Processor and Intel Integrated HD3000 Graphics.

I am also getting similar results with tileracer, not sure if it's related though.

xyproto commented on 2012-02-22 08:07

Thanks for the feedback. Which graphics cards and modules do you have? AMD? Intel?

DarwinSurvivor commented on 2012-02-22 08:02

I can confirm that I get exactly the same result as matthiaskrgr.
Running 64-bit with multi-lib enabled.

xyproto commented on 2012-02-18 10:29

matthiaskrgr, here it works fine. Here's a snippet from the output when I start maniadrive:
[...]
Raydium: Texture num 8 (font3.tga) loaded: 512x512, 1 Bpp (b1 lm0 hdr0)
Raydium: timecall: softcall 2: 1 Hz (1000000 clocks interval)

And it continues to load and run.

Anyone else have the same issue as matthiaskrgr?

Updated the PKGBUILD. setconf is no longer a make-dependency.

xyproto commented on 2010-12-06 16:48

Updated the PKGBUILD so that the .png icon is downloaded from fedoraproject.org instead of being included in the package.

Anonymous comment on 2010-12-06 03:36

I found some issues with your tarball. Binaries are usually frowned upon. This includes:
maniadrive/maniadrive.png
Other TUs seems to think an icon or two is okay, but maybe you should ask upstream to include it. Please fix this.

xyproto commented on 2010-11-25 15:54

Thanks, fixed.

kfgz commented on 2010-11-25 14:13

You should change 'makedeps' to 'makedepends'.

I made some corrections in the PKGBUILD. Builds and installs properly. http://aur.pastebin.com/zbnbkFNu

kfgz, if I remove lib32-nvidia-utils and use lib32-libgl instead, namcap gives the following error:
maniadrive E: Dependency detected and not included (lib32-nvidia-utils) from files ['opt/maniadrive/mania2.static', 'opt/maniadrive/mania_server.static', 'opt/maniadrive/mania_drive.static']
maniadrive W: Dependency included and not needed ('lib32-libgl')
Nevertheless, I made the change you suggested.

If someone could test if it works without lib32-nvidia-utils installed, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

kfgz commented on 2010-11-04 17:11

Please remove lib32-nvidia-utils from depends array and put lib32-libgl instead.

Adopted the package and made it installable for x86_64 too.

Svenstaro, I don't know if it's dead or not, but it's still a fun game. :)

Svenstaro commented on 2010-11-03 11:58

Is this dead upstream?

xyproto commented on 2010-10-27 12:19

Here's a new PKGBUILD that works on x86_64 too.

This game also works on x86_64. Please add to arch=().
