@minhhieu If you purchased it, you should be able to download it on their website. Otherwise, if you have access to it through your institution, they should provide a download link.

How do download local://Maple2021.1LinuxX64Install.run

Wraaath commented on 2023-04-20 15:19 (UTC)

Can confirm this works like riven04 documented. Make sure to chmod +x Maple2022.2LinuxX64Installer.run.

For the ones having issues: Go to the maple website, get your trial code or purchase the license. You'll be redirected to a download page, download the .run installer. You'll also receive a license key via email. Try to install this package by your aur package manager of preference (I used yay), the install will fail. Then, move your .run installer to ~/.cache/yay/maple2021 . Now you have two options: (1) edit the pkgbuild to search for the Maple2022*.run file instead of the Maple2021.run OR (2) change the name of your downloaded installer to: Maple2021.1LinuxX64Installer.run . Messy solution I know. Then install again, this time it should work. Then you have to run /usr/share/maple2021/bin/activation as sudo and provide your license along with details. It should work now by running maple or xmaple (GUI).

Extra: if the GUI screen is blank, do: export _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1 before launching xmaple.

Again, messy solutions.

@aFordsmand I cannot find a link on their website to their installer. I think they generate an unique url for each license key where you can download their installer. I could be wrong though. I get my license key and download url from my university so i have nothing to compare it to. And it would be inappropriate to use my university's download url for this.

However if this url is not unique for the license key it would be no problem to have it automatically downloaded. And of cause i cannot just include the installer as a file in this repo as i have no rights to redistribute their installer.

@mads256h What is the reasoning for including our own installer? While AUR helpers aren't recommended, doing it this way breaks compatabillity with them. Is there a specific reason to not including it?

@Ich875 You have to provide your own Maple 2021 installer. Do you have the installer in the same directory as the PKGBUILD?
