Issue submitted upstream: https://github.com/8go/matrix-commander/issues/161 about the async_timeout dependency, which is (erroneously, I believe) absent from the tool itself.

Thanks for your input Sir-Photch. Indeed, building in a clean chroot made the missing python-setuptools appear.

This depends on python-setuptools as well as python-async-timeout

python-argparse must be removed from the depends array, see ↗ here.

Thanks for maintaining!

Hi @rakoo. It seems that the author's position on encryption is this:

End-to-end encryption (e2ee) is enabled by default. It cannot be turned off. Wherever possible end-to-end encryption will be used.

So maybe there is a case to be made for including those packages as actual dependencies after all... Even though it still seems to me like you could use matrix-commander in unencrypted rooms without them 🤷‍♂️

@marcool04 I had to install the 4 optdepends of python-matrix-nio for it to work:

python-cachetools
python-peewee
python-atomicwrites
python-olm

Without those, the initial login didn't work. I'm using 3.5.5-1

kleintux: thanks that's fixed now.

a2sc: those packages are part of the optdepends of python-matrix-nio which matrix-commander depends on. When one installs matrix-commander, the "optdepends" are listed so I feel that they don't need to be added to matrix-commander as optdepends where they would be duplicate, and they certainly are not dependencies since matrix-commander can work just fine in non-encrypted rooms without them (as my tests in a clean chroot without those packages show).
