@noraj same for me, have you solved it?

noraj commented on 2020-06-15 09:05

After 10 sec I have an infinite loading screen. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Severus commented on 2020-06-02 08:15

@caleb signal-desktop is from official community repo, you rebuild it manually? [My fault - I confirm that I build error with electron 9 and crash if clicked any menu on menu bar.]

@caleb I disabled svg because denial of service bug.

I'm aware of the npm audit fix and have reported the issue to the security team at Mattermost. When your remove duplicates, you only have < 10 vulnerabilities and all concerns build dependencies rather than runtime dependencies.

Sure, having them fixed could be nice, but it would require to bump to a more recent version of electron.

With regard of the dependence on older electron release, I'm just following the exact same major version used by upstream. They will always remain on latest stable - 1.

@Severus I tried npm audit fix that but I actually get a broken build (the loading SVG shows broken tags). Did you try it?

Signal is working for me to but lots of others are either failing to build or crashing with Electron 9. I've filed an arch bug trying to get 8 back in the repos at least. Meanwhile I've downgraded this to 7.

Additionally, can you add npm audit fix after install for security consideration?

Severus commented on 2020-06-01 07:51

@caleb yes, it's signal desktop

caleb commented on 2020-06-01 07:34

@Severus Are you able to use any Electron 9 apps?

Severus commented on 2020-06-01 07:22

@caleb just swap out electron on from electron to electron6/7. It was built fine with electron9
