This pkgbuild is of course only the build script for maya 8.5, and you need to own the actual maya CD with the rpm's on it to install. Thus, it would be pointless to try to install this with yaourt or clyde or some other such tool. Just download the files and use makepkg.
I have finally made safe, simple, and less redundant the old pkgbuild I made for maya 8.5. I have only tested it on x86_64, but it should also work on i686 as-is. The old pkgbuild I made certainly worked on i686, and this one doesn't change anything I expect would cause that to no longer be the case. Note I do not actually use Maya personally, I made the original files for my sister, so I don't know if *everything* works, but it loads and seems to do what it's supposed to. Feel free to adopt this package and fix problems as necessary, I do not have any use for maya and will be promptly removing it.
