I think you should use `git apply` instead of `git am`. `git am` creates a new commit which means that the git commit id/hash is changed on every build, so the pkgver() comparison isn't accurate. (Also, for me, it pops up everytime asking me for my GPG password as I have my system set to GPG sign all git commits... which I don't really care to do when building this. :))

This package doesn't compile any more - it needs basically the same patch as mbm-gpsd-git is using. The PKGBUILD itself is also pretty outdated. Converted patch and updated PKGBUILD at https://gist.github.com/Freso/fdbbb4ecfeae17a51461
