DVBSky does not release new media-build trees, as most of the devices are now supported by the mainline kernel. Thus this package won't compile anymore. What device are you trying to get working?

I get this Errors

Hey everyone, unfortunately this time around it's not done with getting some patches form kernel.org and applying it. Currently I don't have much time to look at it - maybe in two weeks time. I just wanted to know who is still using this package and if its worth the effort to support it, because the longer there is no new release from DVBSky, that harder it gets to compile this whole package properly. Moreover I'm now using the S952V3 and it is supported ootb, so I actually don't need this package anymore. Let me know what you think.

For the time being you can disable the problematic module by inserting the following statement after line 41 in the PKGBUILD:

for mod in DVB_SI2168 DVB_M88DS3103 DVB_RTL2832 DVB_USB_AF9015; do sed -i "s/CONFIG_$mod=m/CONFIG_$mod=n/" v4l/.config; done; sed -i '/VIDEO_CX231XX/d' v4l/.config

Of course this may disable a module you might need.

I am a complete newbie at this but I've just installed this and I'm trying to get a DVBSky S960C working.

After installation and reboot I get this when plugging in the USB. I'm using the latest kernel. Am I missing something? It's almost certainly something I'm doing wrong!

[ 138.616101] usb 1-7.3: new high-speed USB device number 10 using xhci_hcd
[ 143.683818] usb 1-7.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110

@anthonytexdev: My old S952 doesn't work with the built-in kernel modules (neither normal reception nor SCR). Using this package both modes work just fine. As long as a dvb card supports DiSEqC (which the S952 does) it also supports SCR. A new S952 may work just fine using the shipped kernel modules. You can also write me an email (see first line of the PKGBUILD).

@olebowle
Hello, may i ask you a few information about the s952 that i was going to buy before reading your last (but old) comment? So first "...SCR/Unicable and my frontends time out while tuning" it would be my situation: doesn't the s952 work with an Scr system? Do you suggest this tuner? thanks in advance.. i know this isn't the correct place to ask you this question so apologize

@surfhai
I can reproduce your issues with the S952. Apparently the tuner is "too old" for the current mainline modules. You may want to check out the following ML thread: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg87673.html There is a new branch inside for a driver, which may work for you. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me right now, as I rely on SCR/Unicable and my frontends time out while tuning.

Hmm, that is strange. No idea about the naming. I usually wait for dev-dvb-adapter0-frontend0.device etc.

Could you please paste (pastebin or such) a complete log of booting without media-build-dvbsky? The output of sudo lspci -vvvnn would also be helpful. I have reports of rev 02 not working with S952, only in german though.[1][2] rev04 seems to work fine.

Didn't work, I also have to install the media-build-dvbsky package. The device naming didn't change with the switch to the kernel drivers? Because I had to do a little modification to the tvheadend.service file for systemd to get it working. I checked the name and thought it didn't changed but maybe I missed something.

Could you try running 3.19 with dvbsky-firmware only. I think this should do the trick.
