How is this package 320 MB larger than non-dev version?

jmackie4 commented on 2017-11-13 22:57

Can't seem to make any connection to Mendeley, every attempt to sign in immediately returns:

"...Socket operation timed out"

Then tells me to check my connection settings.

Not using a Proxy.

No connection issues with the stable release.

Any ideas?

Hi @gaelic, thx to answer me! Here is the output when i try to run mendeley from terminal.

File "/usr/bin/mendeleydesktop", line 3
from __future__ import print_function
SyntaxError: future feature print_function is not defined

gaelic commented on 2017-09-18 10:11

Can you please try to start mendeleydesktop from a terminal to see what is happening and post the output here (or in the forums)?

Installed the following missing fonts:
xorg-fonts-100dpi 1.0.3-3
xorg-fonts-75dpi 1.0.3-3

This resolved the issue, thank you.

rr1991b commented on 2017-06-13 21:38

Worked fine for me on HiDPI without changes.
One issue I have is a missing font, see:
This only shows up in 'watched folders'. Which font could it be?

b52 commented on 2017-03-10 11:52

Stripping the bundled Qt libs still results in unreadable PDFs on HiDPI systems.

jierumei commented on 2017-02-18 05:57

The link has broken.

gaelic commented on 2017-01-20 10:43

Is the scaling issue resolved by using the included qt libraries?

Others seem to have the same problem, including windows users. Some report it is fixed, some still have problems (last comment from 2017-01-19).

gaelic commented on 2017-01-03 12:39

Sorry to see that qt 5.7.1 does not resolve all problems, i've inlcuded it again. I'll give it another try when the next dev version comes along.

b52 commented on 2017-01-03 08:57

Same issue here as @jierumei, see the attached screenshot for comparison:

Additionally, I always get the following logs:
> QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled
> WebEngineContext used before QtWebEngine::initialize() or OpenGL context creation failed.

It works fine though, but I assume it uses software rendering rather than GPU rendering.

jierumei commented on 2016-12-24 12:18

with qt5.7.1 the pdf show in an abnormal way in HiDPI, which makes it unusable.

gaelic commented on 2016-12-17 11:14

removed the bundled qt again. qt 5.7.1 packages resolve the problem.

gaelic commented on 2016-10-27 17:01

updated to 1.17.2, still not working with qt 5.7.0. Maybe the 18 branch will bring us that.

alleut commented on 2016-09-20 11:18

Okay, thanks.
Isn't it possible to force Mendeley to use Qt5.7?

gaelic commented on 2016-09-19 08:30

The problem seems to be that mendeley is compiled against qt5webengine 5.5 and while archlinux is at 5.7. Therefore the package does not remove the bundled qt anymore, making it somewhat big ... but working.

alleut commented on 2016-09-09 11:55

Broken after 1.17:

At first:
/opt/mendeleydesktop/bin/..//lib/mendeleydesktop/libexec/mendeleydesktop.x86_64: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

After pacman -S qt5-webengine:
QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled

ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment.

Could you, please, consider updating this package to the latest, cutting-edge version, whether it be dev or stable? Pop-up update invitation is annoying :)

gaelic commented on 2016-02-27 06:34

Hello, according to the release notes dev4 is still the most current dev version, cannot update at the moment despite mendeley says otherwise:

edit: 1.16 is now stable. There is no new dev at the moment ...

gaelic commented on 2016-02-06 08:01

updated :)

csantosb commented on 2016-02-05 22:43

Hi, dev4 is already available
