Done. Thank you!

Please consider depending on "java-runtime=8" instead of "jre8-openjdk".

That would allow people to use packages like jre8-openjdk-infinality instead of *having* to use jre8-openjdk. :-)

This package is already at revision 3145, and the mkgmap download page [1] lists version 3145 as the current stable release. Thus, I'm not going to update any further than that. If you want the absolute latest release, I'd recommend installing mkgmap-svn [2].

Thanks for the comment! I'm updating three packages: mkgmap, mkgmap-svn and splitter.

Interestingly, namcap warns that java-environment is a dependency. However, I empirically tested out the updated packages by compiling a new map, and everything worked. Thus, namcap's warning appears spurious.

saultdon commented on 2014-03-20 00:06

java-environment will install both the java JDK and JRE. JDK is a lot of download =P especially if it's not needed.

I think only the JRE is needed to run mkgmap.

Replacing java-environment with java-runtime as a dependency lightens the load quite a bit.

I've just performed a thorough rewrite of this package with the intent of making it safer (quote variable interpolations), easier to maintain (don't create a shell script from within a shell script -- hard to track escape chars) and cleaner. If anyone experiences any issues, please let me know. I can easily revert to the old format at any time.

Thanks for the heads-up, flow.

PKGBUILD for r2570: https://raw.github.com/Ichimonji10/PKGBUILDs/master/mkgmap/PKGBUILD

Updated the PKGBULID again. I shut up some namcap warnings, revamped the method by which the lib/*.jar dependencies are installed, and tested the install. Everything's hunky-dory.

If you're looking to offload some responsibility, I'll adopt this package. I use it on a regular basis, so I have a vested interest in making sure it works well. Also,

Ichimonji10 commented on 2013-04-06 21:39

The PKGBUILD I link to not only bumps the revision number and updates the sha256 checksums, it also alters the way the package itself is installed. Formerly, only mkgmap.jar was installed. Now, both mkgmap.jar and lib/ are installed. I've tested this setup on my personal machine, and it works fine.

HOWTO UPDATE YOURSELF: in PKGBUILD, update `pkgver' to 2281 or whatever (see http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/snapshots/), then after downoading *.tar.gz update `sha256sums', build it again - done.

Hi, new version. To avoid error modify PKGBUILD with:
pkgver=r2141
sha256sums=('0287775b04f3860184b5e5d6efb52aecd02f03fd29f808ac747cf9865025112d')

hi, I've change the PKGBUILD with new version (2028), and the new sha256sum of the package downloaded (fcccfeec04b4ec644cdcf621f68832fe0a335772e2e83439499b609aaeb67344).

Could you please change 'java-runtime=6' dependency to 'java-runtime>=6'? It seems like work with Java7

The man page is currently installed in /usr/man instead of /usr/share/man. Same goes for the -svn version.
