Hey @0000000011111111 - thanks for the flag :) Actually, the 0.14.0.0 is only released for command line at the moment, and the GUI is still in the "pre-release" stage. I.e. it's been tagged, but no binaries produced yet. Please feel free to re-flag once they have been released!

Hi @naguz - thanks for the report. I see in the release notes that they have confirmed an overhaul using hidapi for the Ledger, so I will add this to the dependencies (and later remove pcsclite once I've confirmed that's not required). Thanks!

Package hidapi is missing as a dependency. Before installing it, I got the error "/monero-wallet-gui: error while loading shared libraries: libhidapi-libusb.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" and monero-gui wouldn't open at all.

I guess this is required for the relatively new Ledger support, which only some people need. In my opinion it should start without it and error out when you try to connect a ledger, but I guess it's not worth an upstream bug.

My pleasure! You're right - hopefully not required :D Will have to keep an eye out! Thanks again :)

Thank you for the quick changes, @DescartesHorse! I think it makes sense not to modify the default log location, if anything that's a decision that should be made upstream.

Hopefully your modification of the start-gui.sh won't be required for the next release. :)

Hi @nunomartins, thanks again for your suggestions :) I had to modify that script and the start-gui.sh script itself, but all is working now. I've opted not to modify default log file location just in case there's anything or anyone that relies on it being in that particular area, but you can certainly and specify yourself now :)

Hi again, @DescartesHorse. Could you change your monero-wallet-gui script to forward all arguments to ./start-gui.sh?

You should only have to change ./start-gui.sh to ./start-gui.sh "$@".

It will allow us to still use the -h and -l flags of the wallet whilst incorporating your fixes.

This wasn't possible before, but I've submitted a PR which was recently merged into master and should thus end up in the next release: https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/pull/1566

I personally hate that the log file shows up in the home directory by default and it can only be changed using the -l flag. In my opinion, something like "$HOME/.local/share/Monero" would be a better location for the log file.

I don't know if you'd like to change the default location of the log file. If so, then I think that changing it in the script would be best, changing ./start-gui.sh to ./start-gui.sh -l "$HOME/.local/share/Monero" "$@".

If not, it at least gives users a way to change the default location in the desktop file. For anyone reading this, it would be done by copying "/usr/share/applications/monero-wallet-gui.desktop" to "$HOME/.local/share/applications" and editing the Exec line to something like: Exec=sh -c "/usr/bin/monero-wallet-gui -l $HOME/.local/share/Monero/monero-wallet-gui.log"

Thank you once again! :)
