Please build the package from source or rename the package to mongodb-compass-bin.

I am getting a segmentation fault (core dumped) error.

After installation, it ran absolutely fine the first time, with no issues. But, after the first run, it crashes every time within 5 seconds.

I tried to run from the shell, but that time it gave this error:

[1]    118213 segmentation fault (core dumped)  mongodb-compass

I also tried with other variants of MongoDB Compass, i.e. mongodb-compass-beta, mongodb-compass-beta-bin, mongodb-compass-readonly-bin, mongodb-compass-isolated-bin; I tried all of these, and faced the same issue in all of them.

Can you help me identify, what I am doing wrong?

FYI:

  • I have installed mongodb-bin, mongodb-compass, mongodb-tools-bin and mongosh-bin.
  • these are versions:
$ mongod --version
db version v6.0.5

    }
}

$ mongosh --version

$ mongodb-compass --version

@l337 regarding the saving connections bug, you have to install the gone-keyring package on your system for the saved connections to show up in the gui.

hensansi commented on 2021-11-29 09:25 (UTC)

I'm getting this error with 1.29.5-1 error: could not extract /usr/lib/mongodb-compass/MongoDB Compass (Truncated zstd input).

l337 commented on 2021-08-11 00:48 (UTC)

this package works fine, but it doesn't save the last connections, it doesn't save aggregate either, it seems that it has a bug related to saving content

I'm having the same "Running Migrations" problem. Waiting for an update to 1.28.1 which hopefully fixes the issue, though I do see upstream still considers this an open issue: https://jira.mongodb.org/projects/COMPASS/issues/COMPASS-4939

UPDATE: I can confirm the issue is fixed in 1.28.1.

I am also seeing the freezing issue at "running migrations". Opening the DevTools shows the error Cannot find module '/usr/lib/mongodb-compass/resources/app.asar/node_modules/mongodb/lib/index.js'. Looks like either a node package is missing or it's not a dependency anymore but still an import.

Edit: Updating to 1.28.1 fixes this problem.
