how and why is nagios not in main repos?

MSMHRO commented on 2020-06-25 04:56 (UTC)

I can't build Nagios... It returns

collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: [Makefile:177: archivejson.cgi] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/builder/.cache/yay/nagios/src/nagios-4.4.5/cgi' make: [Makefile:89: all] Error 2 ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting... error making: %!s(func() string=0x560443408ed0)

Any idea?

Thanks @Idares. I actually knew the workaround (that's how I installed it in the first place!), but I thought that it would be helpful for the package to let people know that it actually did work in ARM, rather than each individual user having to guess/test.

Having said that, I actually thought that there was an official stance to add ARM if possible, but apparently not. However, from the thread you linked, the last reply was this [a], so I think the consensus is that it is useful to add, but up to you.

@Rhinoceros: use makepkg --ignorearch: https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/2014-October/029673.html

Hi, this appears to work fine for ArchARM. Could you please add arm armv6h armv7h aarch64 to arch?

@idares, IMO, to keep .cfg.sample files in /etc/nagios together with the .cfg pollute a little reading this directory, so maybe these sample files could be to put into a /etc/nagios/sample/, /usr/share/nagios/sample/. Just my 2 cents on this.

I am not sure if this is an upstream issue but I can't get nagios to send notification email anymore: [1501503768] wproc: NOTIFY job 22 from worker Core Worker 16678 is a non-check helper but exited with return code 139 [1501503768] wproc: host=localhost; service=ejabberd; contact=nagiosadmin [1501503768] wproc: early_timeout=0; exited_ok=1; wait_status=35584; error_code=0; [1501503768] wproc: stderr line 01: mail: $TMPDIR is not a directory or not accessible: /dev/null [1501503768] wproc: stderr line 02: mail: Assignment of variable aborted: HOME [1501503768] wproc: stderr line 03: /bin/sh: Zeile 1: 18266 Fertig /usr/bin/printf "%b" "***** Nagios *****\n\nNotification Type: RECOVERY\n\nService: <redacted>\nHost: localhost\nAddress: 127.0.0.1\nState: OK\n\nDate/T ime: Mon Jul 31 14:22:47 CEST 2017\n\nAdditional Info:\n\n<Redacted> OK - 0,005 second response time on <redacted> port <redacted>\n" [1501503768] wproc: stderr line 04: 18267 Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben) | /usr/bin/mail -s "** RECOVERY Service Alert: localhost/<redacted> is OK **" <email redacted> Running the mail command from my local user seems to work fine. This worked not so long ago. (I have been using this package more than a year now.)
