@Aryan is there a new update for nekoray? The latest release is 4.0.1 and the git repository is archived, so what update are you talking about that I don't have time for?

Hi Mr.Molaei, I was just waiting for so long for this package to get updated, but it seems you don't have time for maintaining it and I'm the maintainer of these packages:
supertux-advance-bin supermariowar-bin hiddify-next-bin supermariowar-git
I'd be happy if I could contribute and maintain this package if it's possible for you. Thanks in advance.

@Aftermath @Koshon I understand, but keeping and using a non-maintained out-dated code with possible vulnerabilities is also risky, there are these paths forward though:
-
Someone submit a nekoray3-bin package with history from this package
-
Use an alternative like v2raya that is both maintained and feature rich IMO, I am using it for a while now and it's working fine.

Is keeping a package updated required at the cost of its breakage??
V4 series are just setback. They just support sing-box, dropped support for many things. As a user, I actually don't have any option other than xray. Since my providers provide nothing else.
I'm Really disappointed by this update of the package, and in my case, it's nothing but a broken piece of software that can't do what it was doing for years. Many users complained about new changes going on this program in GitHub, but developer isn't listening. Packagers but do not need to necessarily follow developers' desires.
There are already two other packages providing the last version of this package.

What stupid update. no xray, lost my routing presets. Ugh...

@w568w Give 4.0.1 a go, it may still meet your needs, if needed someone can use the git history of this package and create a v3 package
I've also used v2raya and am satisfied with that as well

4.0.1
is out of beta now.
Considering the breaking changes in v4, could we have a legacy package that stays at v3?

Seems like Xray support is basically removed from the latest versions of this app.
Does anyone know any suitable alternative? I was not lucky with V2raya either.
Aftermath commented on 2024-07-08 08:06 (UTC)
@ali.molaei Thanks dude. I only use Xray.

Due to some limitations see here, I wasn't able to compile via source, so this downloads and populates a pre-compiled zip file (this is temporary, hence lack of
-bin
in name). And since the application operates in its main directory, I had to install it in the user's home directory (otherwise, root permissions were needed to run the app). This is my first PKGBUILD, so let me know if something could be handled better/more efficiently. Enjoy freedom :)
