If someone else bumps into the same problem, I think I might've found the source of the issue: somehow I was using an old version o nodejs (LTS Gallium), which doesn't even exist in the repositories anymore. After uninstalling that and isntalling nodejs it now works.

I'm getting an error

==> Starting prepare()...
patching file package-lock.json
patching file package.json
patching file src-tauri/Cargo.toml
node: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.73: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
    Aborting...

Upon inspecting with pkgfile libicui18n.so.73 I get nothing, and pkgfile libicui18n.so gives me core/icu and extra/intel-oneapi-basekit which use different versions of this shared library.

Anyone has an idea which version should be used and how to patch this?

@yochananmarqos, thanks for telling me, changes made, still a bit new to all of this.

  • This fails to build as the dependencies are missing. The should be gtk3 and webkit2gtk-4.1
  • No reason to download a 4000x4000 image separately that's already in the release tarball. Either way, the icons are in src-tauri/icons/
  • MIT is not a common license and needs to be installed
