This is the official version from the DevTeam compiled with the qt flags and such. It would be awesome if you packaged and released that as nethack-qt4 or something, though!

There is a Qt4 port here: https://gitorious.org/nethack-qt

This is the first aur package I've adopted, but using the below fixes and taking cues from the official nethack package, I bundled everything into a patch, and the current build works for me.

Is there a reason why /usr/share/nethack-qt/nethack-qt has SUID set????

It doesn't build with gcc 4.5, it needs the flag __CORRECT_ISO_CPP_STRINGS_H_PROTO You can fix it adding this quick and ugly sed before running "sh sys/unix/setup.sh": sed -e 's|CFLAGS = -O|CFLAGS = -D__CORRECT_ISO_CPP_STRINGS_H_PROTO -O|' \ -i ${srcdir}/${_pkgname}-${pkgver}/sys/unix/Makefile.* || return 1
