+1 on installing the systemd service file now provided with the package. I prefer to use systemctl --user for autostart, so this would be quite useful to me.

Upstream now provides a systemd service file. Would you consider installing it with this package?

No. packages shouldn't magically autostart themselves in my opinion. Postfix / dovecot, databases, tools like mbsync etc don't autostart either and I fail to see why this should be any different.
If an admin wants to auto start it, they can link it there.

Thanks for the update.
For this specific case, maybe it would be better to install the desktop file in
/etc/xdg/autostartinstead of/usr/share/applications?It looks like the file was specifically written for this case (no icon, no "pretty" name to display in menus)
Packages in official repositories are doing that when it's the only intended use (i.e.
network-manager-applet,light-locker,pulseaudio...)S13ntist commented on 2021-06-24 15:11 (UTC)
Not sure how they did that considering I didn't get the message.
I'll update the package
