User management here could use some attention: On upgrade it tries to create the user and group even if it exists. Also you shouldn't remove the user/group when the package is removed [1].

I still think you should use the install file for such things (as I commented before with no reply). Would you care to reply or take action on these suggestions?

Why craft newrelic-sysmond.inst.sh instead of using the install file?

There's a new version, please update :)

Please install the binaries into /usr/bin/ instead of /usr/sbin/, according to the latest RFC. Also don't forget to update the paths in systemd unit, thanks!

A simple systemd unit file:

[Unit]
Description=System monitor Services Provided by Newrelic
After=network.target

[Service]
Type=forking
PIDFile=/run/nrsysmond.pid
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/nrsysmond -c /etc/newrelic/nrsysmond.cfg -p /run/nrsysmond.p
id

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
