I just tried again to update the build in my repo and I can't replicate the failure any more, it builds fine. Sorry for the noise, I have no idea what that was about. Probably a network issue (as it seems the check() function does stuff online).

They do pass for me, although I'm not working in a clean chroot. It seems to work properly according to occ notify_push:self-test in my deployment. I'm currently re-running the build in a clean chroot, I'll edit this comment when it finishes.

Edit: the tests also pass in a clean chroot (using extra-x64_86-build)

I'm getting a test failure in check() when building in a clean chroot.

test test_pre_auth ... FAILED

Are you not seeing the same?

Thank you, @alerque, for taking the time to update the wiki. I've updated the PKGBUILD.

The Rust package guidelines have been fleshed out a bit more and cover a few things this packaging is doing wrong. Notably the way cargo test is invoked is causing the final installed binary to be built with the 'bench' profile. Also the target-dir handling could be simplified.

PSA: I host prebuilt x86_64s packages for this in my user repository for those who wish to install it using pacman without messing around with building from the AUR.

@kescherAUR Well would you look at that! I have no idea what I was talking about, I see from the Git history it was never in the wrong place. I suspect I had more than one AUR package under review at the time and somehow got the comment field on the wrong package. Sorry for the noise.

kescherAUR commented on 2021-03-11 11:05

@caleb The rust dependency IS ALREADY in makedepends, not in depends.

alerque commented on 2021-03-11 10:22

The rust dependency in this package should be moved from depends to makedepends. As a compiler, not a runtime environment, it is required to build the package but not to run it.

I'll look into setting it as default. I couldn't get it to work in my setup, as it returns 404s. I set it to listen on the default port on localhost by default. This way it won't be publicly available.

In the meantime, you may do so by running systemctl edit nextcloud-app-notify_push and setting the following:

[Service]
Environment = SOCKET_PATH=/tmp/notify_push.sock

Then you can proxy connections to that socket instead of the TCP address.
