You really need to add a pkgver(), see where is written "If there are no tags then use number of revisions since beginning of the history: "

@FabioLolix, thanks for the point about git. Didn't occur to me since I use git to get the PKGBUILDs, myself. ;)

The upstream maintainer seems to be fine with loose versioning, so I figure it's better to have a more human readable version.

This is missing git as makedepends and a pkgver function https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/VCS_package_guidelines#The_pkgver()_function
