@FirefistAce I had a suspicion that was the case, just wanted to confirm. Thanks!

@jcruz You might want to look into how pacman operates. When you upgrade or uninstall a package the tracked files get replaced / removed.

Oh ok, I didn't see like a clean up step that deleted the old nvidia-sleep.conf file. So what you are saying is that there isn't a nvidia-sleep.conf file along side the nvidia-580xx-utils.conf file with duplicated entries installed in my system, correct?

ventureo commented on 2026-10-10 20:25 (UTC)

@jcruz Hi. It was not removed, just renamed to nvidia-580xx-utils.conf, since now it's not only for sleep settings. You don't need to remove it.

Hi, I see that on Sept 26th you removed the nvidia-sleep.conf file and added new conf files instead. Do I need to remove nvidia-sleep.conf manually from anywhere in my system? Thanks!

@ventureo

I have a multiboot setup with manjaro linux that is creating the grub installation for all linuxes.

Today i tried again installing

Name : nvidia-580xx-utils Version : 580.178.04-4

Afterwards i did a update-grub for all linuxes ... and it worked :-)

So your AUR Package was ok !

Thanks for your work !!

Because i don't know much about drivers especially nvidia

I reverted a working backintime version of the whole partition.

And i will stay with that working version of nvidia, so i put it on hold with pacman ... "never change a running system"

But i think @aokabu has a good hint: he installed egl-wayland and it worked with prime-run firefox

ventureo commented on 2026-10-07 18:26 (UTC)

@JohnML Sorry, but I still don't get it. Which version are you using now (pacman -Qi nvidia-580xx-utils)? Can you reproduce the issue with 580.178.04-4?

JohnML commented on 2026-10-07 11:56 (UTC)

Thats what yay told me !

So i reverted to the working version two (?) weeks ago !

Firefox with prime-run finally starts successfully on linux 7.2.9.arch1-1 with KDE Plasma after the update of egl-wayland to 4:1.1.24-1 right now. I don't see any problem. Thanks!
