Thanks i merged it.
FadeMind do you want to take over the maintenance of this package? I am planing to go back to the official linux package and therefore it would be difficult to test this package.

FadeMind commented on 2015-10-12 13:21

Updated to 355.11 and working with 4.3rc release: https://github.com/FadeMind/archpkgbuilds/tree/master/AUR/mainline/nvidia-mainline

-updated to nvidia driver 352.30

FadeMind commented on 2015-07-16 13:15

This patch is directly for kernel not for drivers, Should be applied during kernel compillation like others patches are... BEFORE compilling NVIDIA kernel module OFC.

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-07-16 12:59

-added nvidia-4.2.patch (changes module license to GPL again as a temporary workaround)

FadeMind commented on 2015-04-24 18:13

r3ddr4gOn 349.16 is stable but Short Lived Branch. See: http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-04-24 16:37

-updated to nvidia beta driver 349.16
(I don´t really understand why the official arch package is using a beta driver)

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-04-09 01:21

-updated to nvidia driver 346.59
-removed the 4.0 patch as it is already included in 346.59

-updated to nvidia driver 346.47
-removed the 3.18 patch as it is no longer needed (although it is still in the official arch nvidia package)

FadeMind commented on 2015-02-26 14:38

r3ddr4gOn sometimes go to: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk?h=packages/nvidia

and find out what's new ;)

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-02-26 14:23

right I didn´t know it´s not needed anymore. removed in r5.

FadeMind commented on 2015-02-26 14:09

For Linux 4.0RC1 patch is needed for proper build:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/813458/linux/linux-4-0-rc1-346-35-build-error-_cr4-functions-fix/

Is needed only patch from 3.18 with .set_busid = drm_pci_set_busid
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/nv-drm-343.36.patch?h=packages/nvidia

Patch 3.19 is not needed now.

smirky commented on 2015-02-26 13:15

Can you share some info about the files:
nvidia-3.19.patch
nvidia-4.0.patch

I don't see a 3.19 patch in the [testing] nvidia package. Why and from where did you gather them?

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-02-26 11:47

- updated to support linux-4.0rc1 (new patch added)
- there is a new nvidia driver version (346.47) but the nvidia-libgl and nvidia-utils packages have not been updated yet

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-02-26 11:45

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-01-30 02:10

removed the licence workaround because it is no longer needed with linux 3.19-rc6

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-01-20 04:18

I don´t think it does, they just added a #define for the inode parts but the code behind it is still the same. Strangely enough they added the #ifndef from the 3.18 patch but the .set_busid is still missing ...
Patches updated accordingly.

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2015-01-19 23:37

I can´t confirm that, it´s still complaining about the GPL only symbol here
I updated the patches for the new version and will upload it soon after some testing.

lachesis commented on 2015-01-19 00:15

There's a new nvidia driver, 346.35. This removes the need for the non-license-changing parts of the 3.19 patch.

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2014-12-23 14:57

Added patch for linux-mainline-3.19rc1 in r3! It changes the Module Licence to GPL to work around the changed licence of a kernel symbol and is therefore a temporary hack till a new version of the nvidia driver is released.

Thanks to FadeMind who did most of the packaging work.

Well I tried without it and it compiled, so I thought it is part of the new version and removed it. Is it not working for you?

graysky commented on 2014-12-17 21:06

Confused... is that patch no longer required? I do not see it in the PKGBUILD anymore.

r3ddr4gOn commented on 2014-10-27 20:15

Thanks, patch added!

trialuser commented on 2014-10-25 22:22

Dosn't work with 3.18rc1, fix here https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/783364/343-22-driver-incompatible-with-linux-3-18-/

oops thanks i missed that :) fixed now

WorMzy commented on 2014-08-05 22:32

Interesting choice. I don't think many people will appreciate having to download both versions of the driver. But maybe that will teach them to read through the PKGBUILD beforehand.

cian1500ww commented on 2013-01-14 13:08

I've added a fix for the build errors. The package still won't compile with linux-mainline as the scripts in /usr/src/linux-3.8.0-1-mainline/scripts don't have the correct execute permissions. You can manually change the permissions of the required scripts if you wish to do so.

cian1500ww commented on 2013-01-13 15:43

Yep, I'm getting the error too.

r08 commented on 2013-01-12 04:33

There is a big problem building this on Linux-3.8-rc3. Some nv error of some kind.

On the newest linux-mainline kernel rc6. This package won't install. It stops after uncompressing and flags this

*** Unable to determine the target kernel version. ***

make: *** [select_makefile] Error 1

I have uninstalled and reinstalled linux-mainline to check. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Hello cian, you just need to add "us." in front of "download.nvidia.com" to get the file. That's what i did when manually modifying pkgbuild and it's working just fine :)

cian1500ww commented on 2012-06-18 13:55

I can't update the package for 302.17 because nvidia appear to have not released it on their site yet.

dhave commented on 2012-06-17 17:22

Seems like as soon as you agreed to adopt this package, the nvidia folks accelerated their production. I see that main nvidia driver package is now at v. 302.17.

(This is not a hint, by the way, just an observation.)
